Anyone got a map for how ISP's In SA interconnect geographically.

1. who routes Cape Town traffic via Joburg and who routes its in local cities.
2. who peers with who
3. who uses which international connections

I need to educate our management on where difficulties are occurring and why it is affecting us, but not others.

Yip that map is very outdated, Mweb peer directly with all the big ISP's so they should in theory have the best latency to any other backbone in SA... as opposed to MTN who peer with SAIX only (Mweb as well only for Mweb traffic) from what i can tell, thus making all traffic have a higher latency.

I did a test the other day from Mweb to fnbconnect is direct.
MTN Business ADSL account to fnbconnect hopped over SAIX network to IS

anyone else know more? would be interesting to see which backbone is the best to be on, because if SAIX goes down your buggered if SAIX or MTN are your providers, where as if you are on a ISP who peer's directly you can at least access stuff on other backbones.
