Anyone playing DayZ Standalone?

The only time I met someone I was in a building and he had a gun. I ran into the room and got the fright of my life and I think he did too because he let off a gunshot and started whirling around.

Then when we calmed down I tried typing to him but I think my chat is broken so we stared at each other for a while and then he went off.

I actually stopped playing because of this.
I just can't play a game for 2 weeks to be shot in the face and have to restart from scratch again.
A couple times I've met some decent ppl but other times I have been gunned down from a distance with nothing on me for them to steal.
I have never killed anyone, only a bit of troll sniping.
Nothing better than hiding on a hill top and watching ppl enter town.
Put a few shots above their head and watch them duck and dive for cover.

Sounds like you guys should form a band...of brothers.

I'm keen to play this, but convincing other mates to buy a (pre) Alpha game is hard.

Beta will possibly only be released end of the year. Hopefully they're setting the bar extremely low and give us some good content in the next few months.

What’s your Steam ID's so i can add you guys?

Pretty sure I’ll have more fun running around with 2-3 other guys, we can also protect each other’s body's while we wait for the guy to come get his loot once he has died.

It should also be a bit easier to get weapons and decent loot from the airfields with some backup.

I just installed Arma2 and Dayz again.

Keen to play with people who actually want to accomplish things in the game.
(spent most of my time when i last played just running around)

RE: Bandits and murders
In the 20 odd hours that I've played, I've been murdered many times (5+). Sometimes after a hold-up and other times sniped from a distance. I don't know which one is worse though, but both are pretty senseless. But it's part of the game and part of our humanity. You're getting those lone gunmen/bandit gangs murdering people and then you're getting guys banding together to hunt those doing wrong. As long as a modicum of balance can be achieved though.

The worst I've heard of though - and I don't know how true it is - is somebody that was forced to commit suicide by climbing up a large building and getting pushed/forced off. How true and why the guy was so compliant, leaves much questions.

I've held up and I've murdered on seperate occassions as well, but all within cause. If you're a known bandit, then you deserve to be shot. If you come swinging at me when I offer support, then I will take your pants. But it's much more gratifying seeing another player/players and venturing together for a bit, or helping them out.

I've managed to make some friends on the adventure and from time to time we band together to increase our survivability. And once the devs introduce custom buildings/bases, it'll be even more worthwhile banding together.

PS. If you guys wanna jam together, I highly suggest using TS. In-game chat is dodge and chances of ambush/attack increases greatly.

I've put in around 25 hours and been really enjoying it. For an alpha I'm quite surprised it plays as well as it does. Looking forward to seeing some vehicles in the game though. Just be prepared to be killed on site if you're carrying a lot of gear and weapons, and if you make it to an airfield especially - WATCH YOUR A$$$

I've heard of people being held up for their clothes.
Sent on their merry way with underwear on.
A friend of mine also get held up and had to jump off a building but he was held up on the building.

Well thats lame.

Well, it is a whole new game, after all. I don't know of many developers who will give their games away for free simply because you own all their previous games.

And that's why I'm not currently playing. Just because I'm carrying a rifle doesn't mean I have any ammo for it or that I'm well geared. Hold me up and rob me, if you must, but why shoot me on sight?

Got killed last night.

Had my first successful character. Had ammo, water food etc. to keep me for a very long time. Even got a compass.

I just needed a gun, looked for one near an airbase. Got on top of a roof to see if there is any loot. Heard a shot and screen went blank. :(

lol yea that sucks, i have a extra weapon, still need to decide if i want to keep the m4 or the scoped mosin.

Google DayZ map and check the military compounds, people don’t usually camp there
