Aoc

Just launched AOC now, and I've done a few patches already +-110mb so far. My guess is that this will continue for a while until the whole game is up and running, tradeposts, guild villages npc's etc etc.

if you get endless loop patching see this it might help.

but all in all you should more or less have it in this order (this was on 23rd may, see diabolus's patch notes)
5MB ->> 93.4MB ->> 13MB ->> 632MB

Yea, patching from scratch should NOT be more than 900MB . First patch i got was like 700MB [3 different things], then Monday there was a 14MB one, Today [tuesday] there was another 100MB one about.

Ok, we have a South African guild formed on the PvE server now (for those that prefer PvE over PvP).

The guild is called "Vanished Age" (for now) and you can talk to Brandofriva, Ashnai, Antara, Dalden, Iblade or Tepic in-game if you want to hook up with fellow South Africans.

If you are having trouble finding us, reply here or on this thread: http://www.ageofconan.co.za/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=104

Ok those who are jamming already, can you give me a review on the PC Specs that you guys are running and how the game is running on it.

Iv got this lowly excuse for a rig:

AMD 3200+
2gigs DDR800
8600GT

will i be playing AoC: Powerpoint edition?

:P

quad core 6600 @ stock speeds
4gig ram
8600gt

high settings, only thing that i changed was shadows only from characters;

i get from 50-80 fps, averages around 50fps. But setting it to above average in task manger seems to help and i am sure a good defrag after installation would also.

-was wondering how this would run on amd 4200 x2, 2g, 2x 7800gt sli

Quad core 6600 at 3.5ghz
8800GT with 20% overclock
4GB Ram
Vista 64 Home Basic (No service pack)

I'm running on High setting, with 2xAA and 8xAF, full shadows. Avg 40-50fps, sometimes dropping to 30-35 in populated areas. I was running at 4xAA and 16xAF, but then frames were averaging 40 with drops to 26-32 in populated areas, and I could see the difference, so moved those settings back down. Next month I'll download SP1 and the new Nvidia drivers and hopefully that will improve performance. I do believe that the graphics engine will be tweaked substantially still, leading to further gains. DX10, currently slated to be ready in August, is also supposed to have a positive impact on performance.

What is undeniable is the awesomeness of the graphics system even as it stands. I played AoC the whole evening and then popped onto Guild Wars (Which I've been playing since launch), which I have always regarded as a very visually pleasing game. It looked completely bland by comparison, with fuzzy textures (Particularly on the toons) and angles all over the place. While many people may be screaming that AoC is not optimised graphically, I am amazed how far graphics have come when I am consistently blown away by the quality so far in AoC.

I'm running the following rig at absolutely full gfx @1680x1050;

Q6600 (stock)
2GB 800mhz DDR2 Ram @4-4-4-15 latencies (bought like this)
8800GT 512mb (stock)
All nicely slotted onto a XFX 680i Mobo

I'm too lazy to overclock :) , but normally running at 32-40fps, 18-23fps in populated areas, have not played around to reduce settings a bit to get to optimal 60fps, too focused on getting the blood thirsty Barbarian lvl'ed.

I was on 5fps
Now Im happy with my 30 average on low quality:P

@ Buddha

Your specs is fancy :--
AMD 3200+
2gigs DDR800
8600GT

My daytime AoC playing PC is using the same CPU, but with 1.5GB DDR400 ram & X800 APG Videocard and its still semi playable on pings bordering on 600ms for me. Ofc settings all on low / shader 2 / shadows and such nasty goed off.

A bit of a stutter every so now and then with very bland ground effects aka vegetations seem a tad absent :) 100% ok for Pve servers and I even dabble in making chars upto lv 20 in PvP lol

cheers

Running on:

Core 2 Duo 6600 (2.4ghz)
4GB Ram
Nvidia 8800 GTX 768MB
Dual screen 1680x1050

Running 40+fps on max quality in windowed mode while using the other monitor raiding in EverQuest II.

PS: Don't forget to check us out on the Ymir server! ;)

the patches aren't exe's yet. They can only be downloaded via the AoC updater so no :(

Yay :D finally got AOC installed and patched.

Playing on the Ymir sever - still havent nailed down my fav class yet, but I am playing a Guardian called Bearclaw

There is one question though, is how to claim those free items the belt etc. I thought something would appear when you type in /claim but nothing appears. I wonder if I was using the right window - I was using the normal chat window

Stephen, what version did you get? Pre-order/Standard

If you have bonus items (you'll see them on your account page), then /claim should work.

Hi

My version is the R269 from Btgames it was the Killer Rhino (I know you only get this at 40th level) and that belt with an extra slot. I saw the message on my accounts page.

Maybe I was expecting something similar to Guild Wars where you type in i think it was /bonusitem and message appears in chat that the items have been added to your character :o

Maybe it works differently in AOC
