Apple and Imap connection

I am trying to connect via imap to my email account held by SAI.

On my iphone and ipad I cannot connect to the server, but on my macbook it connects with no problem.

If I try to connect via thunderbird on a PC (forgive me) it also does not connect...

SAI don't seem to have any solutions...

If I use my afrihost email accounts I can connect on all the devices - so I assume it's SAI?

Anyone got any ideas?

hmm.. did an imap setup for my step mom (ipad iphone macbook) w/ mweb mail the other day and its flawless.

you sure you are using the imap server name and not pop3? some providers "autodetect" and fck it up. otherwise i would say it could be SAI...

try setup a gmail account and connect via imap from ipad... then you can be sure.

I know the iPad tries to connect to secure imap on port 993, try changing the port in the advanced options to 143

Yeah I usually find the problem on my iPhone is that it autodetects it as POP3 and gets the port wrong. Thunderbird does exactly the same thing to me! You need to cancel the auto setup and input the settings yourself. Once you let it go to the next screen you can't change the server type.
