Apple iPad 3 is here

Apparently it is called the Ipad HD. Still dont think it serves any purpose. Like my Macbook, its just going to sit there gathering dust.

Why did you get a Macbook if you're not using it?

Obviously it serves a huge purpose, as it's a top-selling device, worldwide.

Hmmm 5.1 has almost nothing new, well on the phone at least.

Only thing is the 500 times I have to say "I agree" so I can finally update 2 apps is beyond me.

why dont they just place all that licence agreements under a single "I agree" tab instead of bugging me so many times, its not like I am actually reeding that crap. For all I know I could agree to give em my 1st born.

2048 X 1536 screen resolution......simply insane.

Well done, Apple. :)

Just shows that after a certain point it's 90% about content quality. No amount of hardware will make a sh*tty picture/video look great.
Talking of content and delivery I think the advert is quite poor.

iPad for horses.

LTE - not rolled out in sa
Hi resolution - that no media content gets released at
thicker and heavier - a step backwards

i dont see any reason to get the "ipad hd" here in sa this year, rather just wait for next years ipad when you can actually use the improvements (and it'll be cheaper with the release of the "ipad hd 2")

So, given the 100 dollar price drop for the ipad 2, what incentive is there to buy a non apple tablet?

Despite what the haters have to say, the ipad 2 is now the best bang for the buck tablet on the market.

Until now, buyers have been reluctant to shell out extra cash even for iPads with slower 3G connections. The cheaper Wi-Fi-only model – with much more limited Web access – is by far Apple’s top-selling one today.
I thought people didnt get the Ipad 3G because of price.

I reckon the best bet is a wifi iPad with a small wireless modem (like the R201) that you can carry around. Like mentioned, the 3G is limited ... Limits on what/how much can be downloaded, certain apps won't work with it, no warning of OOB shark etc

The downside is carrying another device ... Meaning you'll be carrying the iPad, the modem and your iTunes notebook around to make it functional

I really can't see much reason to want the new iPad. The display on the iPad 2 is really good enough for me - you get to a point where I honestly don't think I'd see any difference. LTE - we're not rolling LTE out in SA yet - widespread rollout will probably coincide with the next release of the iPad.

The only thing that might make a difference is the processor upgrade, and I don't think I'm willing to sell my iPad 2, and buy an iPad 3 just for that.

I'll wait for a later release.

What do they call the new VW Beetle btw?

Ah, I see what you are getting at... sort of like the 2012 iPad ?

But, what if two are released in the same year ?

Maybe 2012-3 iPad for this one, and in six month's time perhaps the 2012-9 iPad...

I think that you will run into some problems calling it The New iPad... the next one will become The Even Newer iPad, and next year's one will be The Brandest Even Newest iPad! Maybe just call it the Sell Your Current iPad ?
