Apple iPad 3 is here

What do they call the new VW Beetle btw?

I am literally having an ipad 2 delivered from FNB tomorrow afternoon... holy cow do I feel like an idiot..

In the same boat... bought on impulse knowing that there will be a new iPad soon... I never learn.
Well I got mine a few days ago actually.

Quick Question... what is this huge bump in resolution going to mean to the size of epublications and content ? Will it remain the same and scale-up, or will it be larger downloads because of the increase in resolution ?

EDIT: And is there still that 30MB limit on 3g / 4g lte ?

Has nothing changed w.r.t. iOS - the operating syste ? Is it only a hardware upgrade, the OS stayed exactly the same ? Does not make sense, expected them to upgrade the functionality of the OS, it is becoming outdated very fast.

The colours do look vibrant and the text crisp. Only thing is, we are watching the video through a laptop, pc screen or tablet. So if people are amazed at the ad it's their current screen that's pretty good... No need to get an ipad 3 :)

Just shows that after a certain point it's 90% about content quality. No amount of hardware will make a sh*tty picture/video look great.

Nothing here worth getting rid of an iPad 2 to buy this. That retina screen will only truly show its worth with the next gen processor and OS we'll see in 2013. Definitely worth getting an iPad 2 at a new reduced price as few pad users will actually get real world benefits from the retina screen I think. The camera is much better, but I - and I suspect many others - never use the iPad camera for anything other than Skype (not the most practical camera around). This is similar for me to the iPhone 4S. Clearly the big changes comes with the next gen iPhone and iPad.

Hence my questions earlier....

The new limit for downloads over cellular networks is 50mb, up from 20mb.

Most publications are already made for 300 DPI, well thats the norm so I suspect the size will only increase for those that did not use the standard.

as for the 20 MB limit I think it got increased but I don't think by much. Even Android Market, erm sorry I mean Google Play recently only upped the apk size to 50 MB.

Aah... thanks for that. I had visions of a x2 for iPad+New iPad. Some publications are in the 100s of megabytes, and I dreaded this becoming even larger to cater for the new resolutions - that will expose any flaws in the original content. If the data size did increase, that would mean that the 4G delivery would have to rely on WiFi because of the limit even more than it does at present.

Time will tell I guess.

So if the next ipad comes out and it's called the iPad 4 .. but it's going to be new when it does come out.. you can't ever say, "I have the new iPad" again.. because you'd be talking about this one.. lol

Apparently it is called the Ipad HD. Still dont think it serves any purpose. Like my Macbook, its just going to sit there gathering dust.

Yeah I think someone at marketing did not think that one through.

Person A "I got a new Ipad"
Person B "Aaa so you got the old iPad"
Person A "No, I bought the latest version yesterday"
Person B "Then why did you not say so"
Person A "I did, its my new iPad"
Person B "No, no, the new iPad is the old 2012 model, the latest is a iPad x"
Person A "Aaaaaaaarh forget it..."
