You're not alone mate, I'm not rich but I manage to get good deals to afford this tech.

Was still way below what the rest where selling them for, I remember seeing prices of R 10+K on the sites. Just as long as you sell it before local retailers gets them you will be amazed at what some people are willing to pay.
 
So how long before "The New iPad" hit our shores? A month?

I hope they keep the same prices here in SA.

Yeah, problem is I don't know if I should rather buy now, or wait for a decent fully fledged tablet PC running Win8 (what I really want).
Issue is I'd really like to get a tablet for furthering my I.T. studying and I'm getting really impatient so these iPad2 deals everywhere are starting to look really attractive.
 
I do a lot of reading on my ipad, so the screen is a huge upgrade for me. The thought of no more pixelated text is a good one.

Well personally I would prefer to call it the iPad HD.

New iPad is just gonna confuse the crap out of people. even better talk about creating a CPA loophole of note. For one, I can go sell a new IPad on websites and when caught out selling the 1st gen will just say but its new not second hand :)

Not to even start talking about the problems coming next year when the new new IPad comes out.

Why would it cause problems? Apple kept the name of the iPod Classic the same for many years, despite new versions. (They did release other products in the iPod product line though with different names)

Because they started them as iPod classic 1st gen 2nd gen and so on.

iPad's started with different naming convention. ie: iPad, iPad 2 and now the new iPad. if they kept the name iPad, iPad 2nd gen, iPad 3rd gen it would have been the same thing.

I know they planning to go back to that model but they should have just called this the iPad 3rd gen instead of the new iPad, and I have already given an example of where it can cause problems selling 1st gen iPads as new iPads and you will have no legal recourse to get your money back.

I pre-ordered mine this morning. 16 gig with 3g @R5100. I have an iPad 2 but this is a huge improvement especially with the new retina display.

Where? I have both ipad1 and 2 but prefer 2 as it is bulkier.
I could sell pad2 by 2morrow for R4000. At that price I too want to pre-order

I ordered it directly from the Apple store. I am lucky that my brother is in the USA at the time, so he will pick it up for me. Guess you will have to go through the normal SA channels.

Ummm . . . the first gen ipad is considerably bulkier. :confused:
 
SERIOUSLY doubt the official name is "The new iPad" or anything like that.
The official name is just "iPad".

Look at the TV ads of ALL Apple's products. Every single time at the end of the ad they say the actual name of the product.
iPad 2 ad says "iPad 2"
iPod Touch ad says "iPod Touch"
iPhone 4 ad says "iPhone 4"
iPhone 4S ad says "iPhone 4S"

The new iPad ad simply says "iPad".
