Apple iPad beats Android in tablet sales

True ... The better product doesn't always sell though? Look at Betamax ...

I'm just saying that I disagree it's your statement that nothing has stepped up to the iPad. They have - and bettered it in some aspects - but they're not selling as well.

But they haven't bettered it in the aspects that actually matter - apps, build quality, screen quality, overall user experience. Really the iPad is far ahead of anything else. I am waiting and waiting for an alternative to the iPad3 and there isn't even one that comes close.

Just opinion dude. Had iPad2. Now use Galaxy Tab 10.1.
I find the build and screen quality comparable (iPad2. Never seen the 3 up close). Overall use experience however is far superior on the Galaxy Tab. And this is my opinion :D

The Apple brain washing machine seems to run at perfection level which seems to help their sales :rolleyes:

Sure, my opinion... the opinions of 90% of the buying public. Oh but I forget they're all brainwashed aren't they. Apple keeps creaming the market and all you can come up with is that Apple brainwashing machine chestnut isn't it.

Same as Android is the dominant smartphone OS and sheepole still insist their iPhones are the best thing since sliced bread.

There's no denying that!

Non technical folk use the word tablet and iPad interchangeably ... iPad is all they know. So when they're in the market for a tablet they simply head to a place to buy an iPad.

My stepfather (over 60) did that but luckily my stepbrother has the iPad 1, iPad 2 and Samsung 10.1 and persuaded him to go the right way!

Suffice to say - he's very happy with his Samsung and chuckles when I can't access sites or media online.

Brainwashing is ridiculous. You just assume everyone aside from you is too stupid and too manipulable to know what they want? I can only guess that the entire rest of the technology review sites were equally brainwashed by Apple's amazing marketing, since pretty much universally (aside from Gizmodo) they decided that the iPad3 is the best tablet around - as they did with the iPad2 when it was released.

I emjoy being nobody. I bought a tablet because it has ICS as an upgrade :p

... or hotspot feature is also left out of the iPad 2?

Worse still, this is only software related and Apple artificially limit features on software - which is worse than an IT device not being able to run the latest firmware/ROM due to hardware limitation years down the line

Lol, Siri? Even if my iPad2 supported it I wouldn't use it. It's much more suited to the phone market. That's why I'm hoping ICS gets a decent voice command system.

I thought you were saying that his hardware would be obsolete and won't run anything in a year or two ... so I was telling you Apple is worse by not allowing features even *if* their hardware does support it. Maybe I misunderstood?

Also - have you noticed that every point an Apple loses is regardless 'pointless'? From camera, to hotspot, to dictation, to apps it lacks and pretty much anything else it can't or won't do?

I have.

Ive also noticed the same with every point androids loses too. No the screens not too big, no I'm not worried about malware, no I don't get effected by fragmentation, no my tab has never shown any signs of lag, no 4 hours battery life is enough etc etc etc

Same s hit different thread.
 
Just out of interest, I would love to know what the numbers would look like if you include all the none Google certified Android tablets.

Like the Novo 7's the Archos's and not to even mention the millions of other chinease knock offs like aPad and ePad's
 
Outside of everything else, what a lot of people forget is that many (most) of the Android tabs are more expensive than the iPad with discernibly poorer build quality and, except for the Samsung, worse form factors (thickness, weight, height etc)

Funny thing is when I demo the Eee Pad to people that have iPad's they normally go "WTF!!! I want one."

I don't much like tablets but everyone in our office runs Android (some previous iPhone users). The ex-iPhone users have complained of lag. And yes even the best Android devices, at best, match the lag of iPhone MOST of the time. So I hope they'll fix it (not that it is super slow but as a power user you definitely can notice those few extra milliseconds).

I haven't however heard of Malware. I've had apps that bombarded me with adds, but I simply removed them and it was over with. Unless the phone is rooted, I'm not sure how Malware would be able to roam free on your phone.

Also fragmentation? (Please elaborate)

Would you mind pointing me to a credible article that points these problems out?
