Apple iPhone 5 disappointment

Maybe it comes from the quote in my post. In case you missed it I included it again.

And you would not be off target by making such an assumption from that quote. It is common knowledge that brands mean something ... that driving a particular car brand says "I'm successful and have the money". Same happens here for many. Not an unreasonable belief/opinion.

I had one of the first iPhone 4's when it came out. One day in a meeting a politician who likes to show off took out his brand new new iPhone 4 and placed it on the table for effect ... waiting for the oohs and aahs that he thrives on ... so I took mine out and said: "Mine has a scratch on already, had it for a few weeks now." :D

So now we've gotten to the root of the whole problem with Apple. It's not their products, it's their poncy showoff fans. But really now, who does that indicate has the superiority complex here? Geez it's like Pawnee vs Eagleton.

Good article from Slate on the Apple share vs earnings dilemma.

Cerebus, it's not that for me ... I don't give a ef about that. But many do and I sympathise with their impression as I've seen that to be the case on many occasions. For many there is much more to it than just that. It would be a severe over-simplification to say that its just about what Crowley stated in response to JStrike's comment.

You don't give an ef about it but you support their impression? What does that even mean BeVonk? I don't hate Eagletonians but I understand why some people do? People like to brag about their acquisitions. That goes for car owners, homeowners, pool owners, it's just universal. Ever seen women comparing their engagement rings?

And it's not an oversimplification at all:
This is the biggest problem I have with Apple. Their products give some people a misplaced sense of superiority.
How can you simplify that further?

I actually believe the root of the problem is that iFans have this huge red button on their foreheads with a sign above it that says "Please don't push this button". The temptation is just to big. Thát is the root for me at least. It's just so much fun to push that button and hear the arguments go through twists and turns.

But that's just it Cerebus. It's more complex. I don't want to simplify it further ... I want to add complexity. You got it all twisted.

For sure. That's the raison d'etre of the internet troll.

I wouldn't have a problem with it if it was worthy of being bragged about. An iPhone used to be the best phone out there but it just isn't any more but some people still live in the past where it was seen as a status symbol.

There is the other big reason. iFans are just so damn easy to troll.

I'm sure I read almost the same words the last few weeks in new threads about the iPhone 5.

just because it doesn't have all the features everyone hyped it to be, doesn't make it a shlt product.
The fact that people think Apple can make these ultra next gen devices points out just how good they are.

Because there is no physical change to the appearance of the device does not make it a bad product. There are over 200 internal changes....and the big improvement is the OS that will be released on the 12th.

The physical appearance of the iP4 is a huge success !!!!!! Why change a winning formulae ? All that was needed to be changed was camera, CPU speed, memory, and additional functions which have been adressed.

You really think the iPhone5 isn't a status symbol in phoneland? Lol.. I went to lunch the other day at the art gallery and these obviously rich people were flashing their 5's all about the place. All that chamfered chrome edge trim you know, it still makes heads turn.

If iFans were not so jumpy a lot of threads on here would have been much much shorter. But MyBB loves throwing the same meat at the lions ... good for business. iFan reactions keep the posts rolling in. Apple is good for MyBB.

And there you have it. Hook, line and sinker.

Like I said, people living in the past.

Apple's next great innovation (to change market sentiments) should be a 18 carat gold iPhone ... LOL!

I own more Apple products than any other tech brand. Far more. But I have never given up on seeing things as they are ... and a lot of the criticisms leveled against Apple carries weight. I'm not willfully blind to the issues/concerns/criticisms raised. But many iFans are willfully blind ... and that makes them stand out like cream donuts to hungry trolls.

Some iFans sit on their red buttons.

Well... if you get your kicks from it who am I to get in your way? Have fun with the trolling though; seems a pretty seedy, degrading form of personal entertainment to me but whatever.

If you want to buy things purely for their function, fine, do so. Some people think that is crazy, some will think it's clever. Up to you.

In the real world, people like to dissociate themselves with lower classes. Hence the reason people buy BMW over Lexus/Toyota, or people buy Cartier watches rather than Swatch and Casio.
