That's mad, Android went from 0.5% to 68% global market share in 5 years?! :wtf:

You can make the sums.
1) Those are still Q3 figures so not really telling us anything new
Oh wow. Here, have a beer on me . Your superior math skills trumped my hyperbole. I think most got what I was saying.
Simply pointing out your (habitual) melodramatic hyperbolising.
Specifically because of the the supply constraint, it is impossible to gauge consumer desire.
All we know thus far is that sales are crazily low, but they could be higher if supply was greater. But at the moment, it is a flop
1) Couldn't find Q4 figures but I am sure they are also higher1) Those are still Q3 figures so not really telling us anything new
2) I don't really care at whose expense it is. Point is, you're the prophets of doom on here about Apple so we who like Apple get defensive. Android, Rim, WP, etc can all thrive and I'm quite happy; but you need to face the reality that Apple isn't going anywhere, not declining, not anything.
Jobs was accused of a similar "sin" ... this reality distortion field thingy that creative people are "blessed with".
But aren't you hyperbolising with your statement too: "habitual melodramatic hyperbolising" (Wow! Trying to say that out loud will take some effort and focus ... need a few beers to get it right)?![]()
disliking I can respect but wanting a Tech company to die is just weird.Seems like you have some issues you need to work through.I never said Apple was dying. I wish they would but that is not going to happen any time soon.
Whoaah there ego, reign it in.![]()
I can agree with this.
When one however looks at Samsung their profit focus is spread over a vast spectrum of products. Apple's is a lot more focused (it has to be). Samsung would therefore not bother too much with a profit from phones race with Apple as it is making profits from all over their spectrum that all ends up in one dam. Some things however carries others (profits in one area carrying losses elsewhere) so the whole will not reflect the actual strength of Samsung. If Samsung were to take a profit race on phones serious to beat Apple on that one metric then I think things will become very interesting ... but they know they don't have to ... TV's and fridges also make good money for them. I genuinely believe we're only seeing the tip of the iceberg of what Samsung is able to do ito profits. The Koreans are known for playing a long term game ... slow is smooth, and smooth is fast.
Maybe I was a bit harsh there, I actually do like some of their products. The iPod is the best music player out there by a wide margin and the iPad would have been awesome if it wasn't for the antiquated OS.disliking I can respect but wanting a Tech company to die is just weird.Seems like you have some issues you need to work through.
Personally I cant stand the Samsung smartphones but love and respect what they are doing. At the very least it is keeping Apple on its toes.
Huh? Why would I want them to be the market leader. That implies poor people can afford them. I most certainly don't want Apple to become Microsoft. Service the high end. That is what they've always done, and that is what I hope they always do.
This is the biggest problem I have with Apple. Their products give some people a misplaced sense of superiority.
What I think most people miss is that there are different types of investors.
You get Micro movement investors that sell and buy on small movements.
They are everywhere but will not cause Apple's stock to fall like this, they love any small dip and do not even care who or what stock it is. Mostly controlled by algorithms written by math professors and engineers.
You get people that are in for the long hall the dividend gatherers.
People that keeps shares for 2 to 5 years and more. for them Apple is a goldmine, as the company is not going anywhere fast and they see a future of rewards they will stay put.
Then you get the growth prospectors.
I have a feeling its them that is bailing. For them its not about the profit a company makes or even its huge bank accounts, its about future growth You know the buy at $20 sell at $100. They are the ones bailing now, causing the stock to dip. Its not saying that Apple is doing bad its just saying they don't see a next big thing coming that will make the stock rise to $700.
Are you totally off your rocker? Where does that come from? Sounds like some weird personal beef you have towards a subset of humanity. This is the biggest problem I have with Apple. Their products give some people a misplaced sense of superiority.
Maybe it comes from the quote in my post. In case you missed it I included it again. Are you totally off your rocker? Where does that come from? Sounds like some weird personal beef you have towards a subset of humanity.
