There is no ways of detecting a jailbreak on a freshly restored iPhone.
Heres a thought, you normally give in your iphone/ipad if its er....broken,meaning you probably wont be able to restore it anyway.

Then neither will Apple.
Just talking to a guy now who hard-bricked his new Galaxy Note updating to Jelly Bean rom. He also can't have freedom/warranty it seems.

Really from an official rom?I'm pretty sure the manufacturer will cover it if it was an official rom.
Man I'm also not sure he's a noob. I've come close to bricking but always been able to recover it. I find Android to be fairly bulletproof. How did he do that, honestly I have never heard of hard brick while flashing a rom?
BOOT maybe but a ROM, nope.

Types of unlocking
Windows Phone Hacker defines jailbreaking as "developer unlocking a device unofficially". This aside, the following levels of unlocking are possible:
Developer Unlock: This allows third-party (homebrew) applications to be sideloaded onto the device. Max 10
Interop Unlock: This allows better access to the device, including areas Microsoft has locked down. Registry editors, file explorers, etc., require this.
Rooting: This allows higher privileges to be granted to applications. This is possible on devices with custom ROMs, or interop unlock. Dynamic Background and Lock Widgets require this.
Full Unlock: This allows native EXEs to be run on the device. This includes things such as the DFT Bluetooth file transfer application.
Custom ROMS typically result in one of the above three.
Just a once off payment and you are sorted.]
How much?
So you can only have the latest Android update if it's an official rom, and that equals freedom?
That isn't an Android restriction, its a manufacturer restriction...
Anyway- seeing as your friend has a Note, there was an issue with some of the ROM's hard bricking the eMMC chip. He should take this up with Samsung, as they are aware of the faulty chips.
What new innovations did the iPhone 5 really bring?

If I had an iPhone 4S, I would stick with that, or get myself one cheap.
How on earth did they get so much battery life out of an S3?
The S3 has got a beefy battery, 2000 mAh, if I'm not mistaken?
But that huge screen does take its toll on the battery life....as they said in the article, they used rundown tests, instead of switching the screen off and just letting the music play.
