Whoooo...will the iSheep be allowed to use it?Ja,someone making the choice for them.
Instant gratification much? I'm surprised there have been so many errors in the new maps but this is a brand new map using a brand new data set (polygons vs tiles) that is going to take time to get right. It has taken Google 7 years to get to this point. With crowd sourcing en-masse Apple should be able to fix most of this with incremental updates. They can technically push out fixes instantaneously because it only goes to their servers. It isn't something you have to download, unless you search for that in your app.
But then who would design Samsung's phones?Apple should just stick to court cases.
But then who would design Samsung's phones?![]()

You'd swear by the hoohaa about this one app change that not a single person can find their way without it?
Last I looked, http://maps.google.com offers to install a link to your desktop.
Http://bing.com/maps also has a mobile interface.
There are loads of map apps in the store.
It's the same with notes or calculator, if you don't like what apple gives you for free, you have a plethora of alternatives to choose from.
Why not log a bug report with apple about the map error you found, and let them know you expect better. But all this rending of clothes and wailing of disappointment really serves no useful purpose.
I’ve driven around with iOS 6 turn by turn since the first beta trying to break it or uncover some weird edge case where it gives horribly wrong guidance, but so far haven’t found a single thing. This is more than I can say for Google Navigation during its first few months, when it would periodically break on the I–10 and recommend driving literally up and down the interstate just past Casa Grande on the way to Phoenix (I jest not) and give endless voice prompts until being quit. That’s not to say Apple’s navigation product is perfect, I just haven’t uncovered anything insane yet.
LOL
You're asking for the zealots to come crawling out of the woodwork
Apple has been catching a lot of flak over the quality of its maps for iOS 6. Apple replaced Google Maps data in the latest version of its operating system with its own maps. According to a source cited by TechCrunch, Apple has been aggressively recruiting people with experience working on Google Maps.
Apple is reportedly aggressively recruiting these people to get them to come work on its own mapping product. Apple is using recruiters to lure away Google Maps employees who work for the search giant on contract. The source says that many of those individuals appearing eager to take Apple up on its offer in part for the opportunity to build a new product rather than perform “tedious updates” on the mostly completed Google Maps.
I’m sure the allure of working for one of the most valuable companies in the world, and a behemoth in the tech industry doesn’t hurt. According to the source, when attention at Google Maps turned to indoor mapping, workers at Google were less interested, and a lot of the staff began looking for other opportunities.
Apple is said to be offering great competitive salaries, and some positions include full coverage of moving expenses to come to Cupertino. If Apple is successful in landing multiple ex Google employees, it will certainly help to improve its currently lackluster map offering. I wonder how Google feels about Apple hiring away workers familiar with its Google Maps application.

Waiting for Cerebus to come explain why we misunderstand what Apple is trying to do here ... LOL!

If Nokia, for example, were shown to have even the slightest glitch upon launch of any of their devices they would be lynched by the public, and the tech media, and the device would be black marked.
Two things strike me when reading this thread.
First, the depth of the brain washing Apple has managed, together with the hypocrisy of some people. If Nokia, for example, were shown to have even the slightest glitch upon launch of any of their devices they would be lynched by the public, and the tech media, and the device would be black marked. Apple does the same and many spend endless hours finding excuses for them.
Second, so many Apple fans on here expressing their hatred for Android but admitting to the superiority of Google products when it comes to maps. Obviously the enemy is only the enemy when it suits you. I, on the other hand, hate all things Apple. Consistency is key![]()
You mean if Nokia did something like this?
