Mm that xenon flash makes quite a difference.
Engadget shows 4S ahead.
n8 ahead of 4s.
So..yeah... mixed reviews and not a clear winner in the bunch.

Personally, I would never say the 4S camera is the best phone camera available. However, when the 4S was released, it had a better camera than any of the Android competitors. The N8 had a great camera, but how many did they sell? Nobody wanted a Symbian phone, so they put in a great camera to try and stay relevant.
More MP on such a miniscule sensor is not necessarily a good thing.Nope, the Sony Xperia Arc had the same camera as the 4s, but is much older than the 4s.
The current Sony Xperia S has a 12mp camera, way better than the 4s.

It doesn't matter what phone it's in, even an iPhone. My specuation is that this same 12mp camera will be in the iPhone 5.

HTC and LG are working on 5" displays with 1920 x 1080 pixels, which relates to about 440 ppi, which is indeed higher than the iPhone's 326 ppi. The advantage of pixel density higher than the human eye can discern is debatable, but the downside would be a huge drain on battery and the need for some serious processing power. However, the point I was making is that Apple use the term "Retina" to brand the displays on their devices, other manufacturers have names like "Super AMOLED Plus" and "HD Super AMOLED". Why pick on Apple for branding their displays when Samsung also do it? Is it just because Apple does a better job of marketing it?
I still don't get your point on cost. I don't pay a cent to Apple for my phone. I pay it to Vodacom (in my case). On my contract I could have gotten an iPhone, a Samsung or an HTC at exactly the same monthly cost. This may have changed now, but 18 months ago that was the case. I have no idea what Vodacom pay for an iPhone vs an S3 currently.
So... the only actual advantage that your iPhone has is that it was the same price as competing Androids on your contract? I don't see how that is an advantage...
I think that's rather an oversimplification. One simple reason he gave was the feel of it vs the feel of Android - particularly Android 2 years ago (when 2.3 ruled, and continues to rule). Today, if they released something that looked like the leaks and mockups are shaping up fairly solidly to be, I'd still find it a very compelling device from the appearance of it - vs the blighted anti-design of the SGS3. OneX is beautiful though.

So, some Android phones were, and still are way ahead of the iPhone.

Android 4.0 has made an impressive leap forward, and I have compared it to iOS and find it more accessible, but I agree on Android 2.3. In comparision to Apple, getting the latest version of the OS can be slightly more tiresome with the whole multiple vendor situation. But in comparision to Apple- I am not reliant on carriers / vendors / anyone to push the updates for me. Right now, I am happily running Jelly Bean, and I have functionality that I cannot hope to have with iPhone.
I also hated the S3 design when I first saw it- but after using it, I was impressed (not thouroughly though, TouchWiz is a steaming pile of **** no matter how they have "updated" it).
No, if you took the trouble to read the whole thread you'd see that I am saying that I don't believe that Apple is ripping me off personally because their profit margins are higher than Samsung's.
That's fine, but it still doesn't answer my question, which cerebus did answer.
FWIW- You may not feel that Apple are ripping you off, but you aren't buying directly from Apple. Kind of a moot point.
Android definitely has come on. Jelly Bean is a smoother experience. I still find it difficult to find the same quality of apps - apart from the native Gapps package which is generally nicer for me than the iOS equivalent.
S3 is definitely nicer to use than to look at. Dat screen.
That was exactly my point. The carriers (Vodacom, MTN, Cell C) may make less profit on their contract deals with the iPhone, but as a costomer I am not disadvantaged, or "ripped off".
True, the specific apps do make a difference. Personally, I have never struggled to find a quality Android app that I needed for a specific function.
Ah now, but the OneX's screen <3But yes, that screen![]()
