A mate of mine in Durban says he has been accepted for the trial. So not just Gauteng?

He also said the max speed is 40mbps?

Done.
Waiting for that phone call now.
Any ideas as to when we will be contacted?

All we have been told is that the participants will be notified timeously before the start of the trial. They are unable to provide us with a date.

I am two kilometers from covered area. Tower in direct view.
External antenna would work? Should I apply?

Edit: No response, applied. :)

From http://www.8ta.com/pages/lte/terms/
The LTE service will be offered as a free service and will be offered to a limited number of 8ta subscribers that fall within the LTE coverage areas and are selected by 8ta to participate in the trial.

Nothing wrong with applying though.

We have also requested for this point to be changed as the trial is open to all and not only for 8ta subscribers.

Can you clarify the 50gig, is it per month or for the whole period of 5 months?

Surely 50GB for the duration of the trial is not a lot??

10gb per month, not a lot

I survive on 2GB per month... 50GB for five months would be bonanza!!!

I already use 10GB per month and use it very sparingly as is. How can you do some serious testing with that?

They are probably trying to give a little to a lot of people instead of a lot to a little people... To have the tests done across the coverage area...

Hi there

50GB per month for the duration of the trial. This has been confirmed.

It sucks that i have full 3g coverage but have no coverage for LTE. But 5 houses down the road have full coverage? Lol doesnt make sense...

Will this technology not cause strain on existing 3g towers? And congest existing 3g customers connection?

Coverage depends on the tower which is LTE enabled. That is quite unlucky...

The towers have been optimised to accommodate these speeds along with 3G. This is a trial and if there is anything affecting current 3G services, please report it to us so we can assist as per the usual process.

I really hope this doesnt congest my tower... My tower is already messed up as we know and running on back up links or what ever... I really hope this doesnt mess me around again.

It actually shows the Geo-coordinates of the location highlighted on the map.

Is it true that only 200 people will stand the chance to be part of this trial?

Correct - There is a Google Maps layer on the map provided.

200 people.... that is not true...

Will people be selected who just miss coverage area? Or is it strictly coverage area only?

Strictly coverage only. Point 4 on http://www.8ta.com/pages/lte/terms/
The LTE service will be offered as a free service and will be offered to a limited number of 8ta subscribers that fall within the LTE coverage areas and are selected by 8ta to participate in the trial.

Also note that this is not only for currently subscribed 8ta users.
