Multiple no.'s assigned to SIM

I have been experiencing problems ever since my HSDPA account was activated. Apart from throughput stalls and the occasional disconnect, the most frustrating problem is slow download speeds. As low as 30-50kbps on average during different types web and VPN activities.

Yesterday, I discovered that my SIM's number has also been assigned to the SIM issued to a lady named Lolita on her new cell contract.

I am hoping that once this has been sorted, all my data card problems will disappear. Not that I am overly optimistic though.

V3G, we must meet up as you suggested. I will PM you my number again. Unfortunately I lost yours.

Since loading and using hsdpa,Ive had error and the dreaded blue screen on my laptop..The error is different everytime, ranging from usb something to dumping physical memory...And then shuts down....

Does sound like a compatibility issue. Typically you upgrade all relevant software components and hope for the best, that's why it's called 'plug & pray'....

I'd first upgrade the BIOS, then the OS (Windows patches), the dashboard version and then card firmware.

On Friday, my one laptop did a Windows update, resulting in the notebook shutting down. (Some SP2 / CPU microcode clash). Took me 2 days (and eventual full re-install) to get it working again...

Any one else having disconnects today. I must have had to reconnect 20 times this morning, and thats with 3 bars on the dash

I have a new HSDPA Vodacom card, which I cant use in my WRT54G3G router :(
Anyone have the beta firmware ?

I also cant use the HSDPA on my notebook, it connects but no data is transfered, it also says connect speed 9600bps ???

The 3G option works fine.

I've got a hardware prob. Hope someone can help b4 I have to go to Vshop. I'm using 3g card with an antenna, as I dont get 3g reception by just using the card in my shop. Card works perfectly with the antenna, but when plugged out I dont even get gprs! At home I use to get great 3g coverage, now nothing, tried a friends card and it works perfectly. Updated the firmware on the card, still no luck. Anyone with some advice before I have to take the card to V/com?

I am currently getting major problems on the Vodacom Network in Centurion/Lyttelton . This has been going on for the past 4 days. I had to resort to my MTN sim to get online properly [so it's clearly not a card or config issue].

Constant disconnects, 1KB/s speeds on HSDPA/3G. Constant error 619s and the network dissapearing completely. Even GPRS seem to dissapear entirely for periods [as in card sits there and go "Aquiring" not finding any Vodacom Network..but when i do a network scan it picks up Cell-C and MTN ] .

Is there anything going on in the PTA/Centurion area ? Did a tower move into
a bad angle ? Again my MTN reception is just fine.

Can't determine my exact tower, it usually is something in the lines of Kloofsig-1 / 2 and Louis Leipoldt-2 [my phone show the LL one right now]. Big
"3G and HSDPA enabled" message too.

Same here diabolus! :( And I don't have an MTN sim... :( But I'm starting to call this connection Vodacrap 3G!

I have not had any problems, disconnects etc. this weekend. Location is Monument Park/Waterkloof Ridge (so I'm just over the hill from you!).

It would therefore seem to be a local problem with your nearest tower or a config problem related specifically to the Vodacom 3G connection.:(

All I can suggest is TRYING to complain on 155. Just remember to select the (not given) option "0".

Yea i would assume as much, i was surfing at 800kbps speeds without problems 2 weeks ago [then my bundle ran out [too much speed] ] , so something changed since then.

Hi 3G

FYI have the losing connection after inactivity problem described here on 2 notebooks and 2 datacards tried south coast natal, southern suburbs cpt and west coast. This occured since friday last week and has been reported. A vodacom shop just let us borrow their SIM card and all works now. SIM card swop with the same number doesnt work. Problem appears to be related to certain numbers.

Will post all the other details you asked for if you like.

Hi 3G,

my 3G card - purchased some 10 days ago - is losing connection regularly just as it happened to snap (see resp. posting).

Is there still a problem with certain sim-cards or numbers ? If so, which is the range of numbers ?

My understanding is that we've changed the profile settings for all numbers, but PM me your 3G number with card type, firmware version, dash version and e-mail and I'll check it up for you.

Thanks 3G, will quickly drive home to get the card and let you have the info requested ...

Vodacom3G, You might already know this but the Data signal is terrible in Epsom Downs-Bryanston! Right near the Epsom Downs shopping centre, im picking up the signal from New Life Church-1. No matter what time of day i use GPRS through my phone or 3G/HSDPA on one of the new data cards the signal is really weak, drops continuously and speeds are real slow. On 3G/HSDPA i never get more than 2 bars! The GSM signal is also really dodgy! :(
