If you use the rate calculator on the AGS mainpage (bottom right), you will see that certain countries have cheaper shipping rates than others.
What did they classify it as?

All 4 are classified as Electronics. Strangely enough, the latest one, bought on eBay and not through Google is out for delivery today. No duty was applied.
This makes me think that anything from Google is being targeted.
I have a Google Home Mini and a JBL Flip 4 Bluetooth Speaker out for delivery today. I am keeping a close eye on the front security camera.

Think we have a less-than-zero chance.. Sharp knives are on the Unacceptable Items list, but thought I would ask anyway.

Electronics cannot attract duty.Is there anyone in Aramax we can escalate this to?Amazon usually refunds you if they charge any duty incorrectly

Has anyone had any success in sending a parcel to Shanghai?
I am trying to enter the address in Taobao (as their stuff is really cheap), but the address page is multiple-choice.
District? Choose one. Minhang. Check.
City? Choose one. Shanghai. Check,
Road? Huqingping Highway. Uh, really?
According to Taobao there is no such highway, or roadway, or even lane, in Shanghai.
As it is multiple-choice I cannot enter any other details.
I have managed to successfully enter the Hong Kong address into Taobao, but over the festive season Aramex have only notified me about one of the three parcels I tracked as delivered to the HK warehouse, hence me trying to add a more "local" address.

So, the webmaster has given us a new Aramex Global Shopper webpage we can access via browser.
He has also included a new section called Cost of Goods.
Check this against what you actually paid.
I have already fired off an email to JHB as one entry states I paid $100 on a parcel I actually paid only $36 for.
The other entry stated I paid $50 on a parcel I paid $39 for. Not as bad as other shipment, but still wrong.

So I received the Ticwatch from Aramex today. Not bad service at all. I had to change addresses because of people being on leave. Was done with ease through the call centre.
Apart from customs nailing me I've got no complaints.

Thanks for this. Every single one of my packages have the incorrect amounts on them? Wtf..? The last two Google minis had a price of $50 and $40 on them despite both costing $30 with "free" shipping..?
This makes me seriously question all other aramex parcels that have come though customs (mostly from gearbest) where they've had a hefty customs fee attached.
Where do you see this on the website?

Without reading through the entire thread - I have a package that arrived yesterday evening at the US address, from Amazon. I received a notification email informing me of such. I've not received anything else though.
I see on the website that they prepare documentation and will inform me of moneys owed. Any idea how long this usually takes? I've never used this service before and I don't want to cause any delays.

Click on the individual order. There is now a price displayed under all that information.
If they have activated it upload your invoice so long. Other than that you just have to wait for them.

Paid almost R200 shipping for a bloody envelope lol. Could've sent it to me via snail mail. Luckily have heard nothing from the sim cards I ordered.

Aramex charge R195 shipping for 500g. You have to accept that.
The post office is cheaper but it does take a lot longer to get to you - if at all.
Say you did use the post office to deliver your parcel. Once your delivery is at your local post office, you then encounter this new thing they have to fill their coffers:
The post office is charging R25 for every unregistered international packet/envelope the postman won't deliver to your postbox - which seems to be literally everything. They call it customs tax, which is ridiculous as we all know anything under R500 should attract no customs duty.
Gone are the days of happily buying a couple of cellphone covers for a buck each with free postage from China. Now it's free postage from China with R25 SAPO duty added on.
