90min after arrival, it departed. I must have just been very lucky it arrived right before a plane departs and that there was space.

That said. I have a parcel that arrived at NY on the 9th. Not a single movement yet. NY must just be super busy, and Canada not at all.

I have 5 parcels out for delivery today.
'Bout bloody time, some have been stuck in customs for a week, even though I don't owe anything on them as each parcel total was below $33.
Gonna be like Christmas, even though most items are for resale.

They also delivered my parcel this morning that was "cleared customs" for the last week.

Now have 1 parcel left that is in customs since Monday. Will follow up tomorrow. Haven't received customs charges yet which is strange as package more expensive.

EDIT: looks like it cleared customs without additional charges, yay! Maybe because only electronics (Echos)

I am having so much fun looking around TaoBao.com. I ordered a T-Con board for a TV from a company in China (dirt cheap versus the same thing on eBay).
I then had to enter the address, most of which was "made easy" in drop down columns - all in Chinese. Helpful - if you're Chinese.
I do not read nor write Chinese, and although Google Translate can translate the page, it cannot translate the helpful drop down sections saying "choose which part of Hong Kong your address is in," etc. I had a total nightmare of translating tiny Chicken scratchings, pictogram by 'tiny house with three horizontal bars front middle...."
I finally got it right (I hope) and I have my parcel on its way to 香港 as we speak.:D

I can confirm this. I have received a parcel from Banggood for US$22 using TNT in the same time that my AGS parcel has been stuck in Joburg customs (still stuck there after a week)
 
I honestly don't understand how a global company like Aramex can be so disorganized. My package hit Customs on Monday, confirmed with Aramex rep who wanted my ID number. On Wednesday I get status update that parcel has now been received at Aramex operational facility - which usually means delivery happens the next day...

Today I call them asking for update. Feedback from them is that parcel will be going through to customs today... I tell them this is not possible as the tracking shows different and I know it went into customs on Monday. They have no clue where the parcel is!!! I am not too concerned as will probably get it next but surely that can be better organised. How difficult can it be to scan parcels in and out for status updates...

Not to make excuses for them but courier companies get it wrong all the time. I suspect things simply become extra complicated when two country's customs departments have to be involved too. Add the Christmas rush and lack of staff this time of the year and it's amazing that anything gets done :D
 
Ordered from Amazon on the 5th of December, received in a remote area on the 14th. Pretty snappy if you ask me.
 
Hey guys, does global shopper hold back parcels at the depot if the invoice submission is delayed?
 
The invoice tells Aramex what is inside the parcel, and what manner of shipping to use (my bluetooth speaker went via Dubai).
It also tells them to intercept a parcel if is over $39 and send it to customs.
Bottom line - yes, your parcel will not move without an invoice being uploaded.

My 2x parcels this month, $70 and $140 both had R0 customs charges...
 
My package arrived at Aramex NY on the 14th landed on my desk in JHB on the 19th. That included a delay (because I didn't pay the shipping immediately). Not bad service at all!
