Aramex global shopper

Six zillion couriers deliver it seems. What we can't seem to get our head around is just how huge Shanghai is.
It is self-governing, so think of it as a country. There are districts and towns that make up Shanghai, and millions of people.
We had someone visit our shop from Shanghai, and he says the city spreads easily from Table Mountain to Worcester.

Having said this, the most reliable courier seems to be SF Express.

Ah yes ... Did not realise just how big. My package was receipted by AGS Shanghai. So far that's quite quick. They requested my invoice which I've uploaded. Let's see how quickly from here on

Realistically how long from here ?

Aramex Shanghai is located 10 minutes away from the Shanghai International Airport. From now on your parcel will scream through to JHB, where it will either be whizzed to you, or sit and wait for customs.
We get most things delivered in less than 2 weeks.

Thanks for the address correction. I'm surprised at just how quickly it got to the Shanghai AGS location and processed. Will keep things posted until my delivery arrives

Grrrrr - Amazon, via USPS, tried to deliver a parcel to the NY depot (?) yesterday and they were closed :o

Shanghai moves very, very fast. If the tracking numbers are in sequence, then it means they push a huge volume of parcels for destinations worldwide through there.

I intend importing a few things this year. Id need an import license right? Is there a cost to this? And how easy is it to get

Appreciate it
IMPORT CODE REQUIREMENTS

Download and fill in DA185-4A1 and DA 185.

SARS Customs need confirmation of ownership of a phone-line. Either a Telkom Landline - or cellphone statement. If you are on pre-paid you need to provide an affidavit.

- They do not accept a bank statement unless it has been stamped in a bank branch. DO NOT PRINT ANYTHING OUT ON YOUR COLOUR PRINTER. Go to the bank and get statements from customer services. Get them stamped and certified!

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. Ask your bank for a letter certifying that you are indeed a customer of the bank and have an account there. ABSA have a template, I’m sure other banks will have templates as well. Make sure the bank then stamp this printed template.

- Proof of address must be original copy. No printed colour copies. Use cellphone statement etc. Go to post office or police station and get your proof of address stamped and certified.

You also need to provide SARS with a "letter of consent" that you are the person applying for the import code. This can be a simply worded letter with your name, address, ID number and a short confirmation that you are indeed applying for the code. GET THIS LETTER CERTIFIED.

Cool stuff

If I'm importing on an "individual" capacity ... Do I need to fill these forms? Especially that annexure one. As all details pertain to a company or business of sorts

You need to fill in both DA185 and DA185-4A1, or your visit to SARS so early in the morning will be very short.
Oh, and they only see 10 people a day, so make it there very early and wait.

I like how they want _original_ statements. I dont get any of these in the mail, all of them are via email. Just means I wont even attempt to get an import code.

If you can prove the mailed statement is indeed you, just get it certified by the post office.
By that I mean, if you have a cellphone contract - take ID and original contract to post office. That way the postmaster can see you are the owner of the phone, and can certify the latest mailed statement.

This will certify your address as well as your phone number.
