Hey Folks,

Hoping anyone can help with contacts or advice with a Shipping/Customs related matter.

In short, ordered a watch from Aliexpress late November 2017 and sent it to my Aramex Global Shopper address in Hong Kong.

Package arrived at the Hong Kong address fairly quickly, and before you know it the package was at JHB.

Customs thought they'd take a peek, and thats where the hold up started.



The package is constantly back and forth between customs and Aramex stores, and I have had no luck in getting an
expected date of delivery.

Weeks just roll on by, and its only this |----| (not to scale) frustrating.

How long do packages usually take to leave customs? I've been waiting almost a month now since it was "Cleared" from Customs.

I've only been told the package is in the Governments State warehouse.

I've been mostly happy with Aramex, however, the lack of feedback when there are problems is not good.
I reached out to their Facebook page a few days ago, and was told an Express team would contact me.

Nope hasn't happened yet T_T.

How do I know whether the package is actually missing/stolen?

I am in the same boat here. I have a cellphone that has been in customs for two weeks now. Keep on getting told that SARS is doing a customs audit and there is a backlog. Tried phoning and emailing but get no answer beyond the audit response.

No such thing, parcel never leaves Aramex warehouse. When they say in customs, it is still sitting in their warehouse.
Their clearing depot is useless, still so many mistakes.

Something dodgy as hell though, parcels only go to the actual state warehouse once confiscated for whatever reason, usually illegal import or duties not paid, abandoned by receiver etc, but not while the clearing is ongoing.

Anyhow if its there you can probably kiss it goodbye, lodge a claim for lost parcel, I assume you have AGS protect enabled, if not, why not?

Well that would surely explain why its been taking so long. I've been thinking someone just helped them selves,
now the box is just getting shipped in circles.

Out of interest, What do they do with confiscated parcels? Do they just put them in a pile and burn them?

I have the AGS Protect Ticked on the address where it was shipped to, so I assume its covered.

Surely the AGS Protect doesnt cover the Fees I had to pay over to Customs?

TBH I for one don't believe it was sent to state warehouse, ask them why and for the documentation involved, things don't just go to the state warehouse, there is procedure to be followed. That is either BS or someone ****ed up. Your box isn't being shipped in circles, they either lost it, or sent it in error as abandoned goods or whatever to the state warehouse.

More than likely its somewhere in their chaos or they lost it. Yean if you paid SARS fee and they haven't delivered, I'm sure you could claim that back as well.

Re state warehouse, whatever doesn't vanish gets auctioned.

Just lodge a claim, they might just have an incentive to find your parcel.

DUDE you shipped this end of November, why you so patient, 4 months means the parcel is bye bye.

Edit: Company wants address in Chinese. Anyone can help with a Chinese address that works. Google translate might not be accurate ... I don't know

I had to pay aramex to return item to the sender and they never recieved it, so I could not get refund.

I've never used Shanghai because the places I order from get a bonus for exporting and block China as a destination. I either ship to Hong Kong, Tokyo(slow af) or I'm now trying South Korea as a destination.

The address on the Aramex webpage is definitely wrong. I had a couple of parcels not delivered, before eventually realising it was incorrect and changing it.

Shop and Ship have this address, and this is the address I use:

It goes without saying that you need your Aramex account number added to the address as well, or it will never reach you.

Although all shipments are getting to Shanghai, there must be something wrong with this address also, as most suppliers complain. However, all parcels do eventually get there.

As for adding the address to Taobao? It is really a bitch to do, and will take hours to get right, but once done it opens up a new Chinese version of something kinda like Ebay. I learned the hard way to NEVER order from a supplier who says he has 2 in stock. Only order from a supplier that says he has 12854200 in stock as he is most likely the manufacturer.

No logistics info for 2 days? Immediately ask for a credit. Alipay hold the money until the parcel is delivered (called Escrow), so it is easy to get your money returned if the seller has not shipped it yet.

Finally, download both Microsoft Translate and Google Translate, because although the Chrome browser automatically translates Taobao into English, the Chinese sellers only communicate through the Taobao app, and this app is not in English.

This is for the people that ordered Echo and Echo Dot from Amazon.
Spotify is now available in South Africa, which is great for us Echo people. However, you can only play music if you have Spotify Premium (R59.95).
Then things get interesting. You have to link Spotify through the Alexa app, but it is greyed out.
This is where your New York Aramex address comes in handy. You should already have it set as default.
Click on Accounts & Lists and then click on Your Content and Devices.
Third tab is Settings. Click on that tab.
Now, all you need do is click on Country Settings and change it from South Africa to USA.
This won't miraculously give you Amazon Prime Music (you need a USA card for that), but you will find out that Spotify is no longer greyed out on the Alexa app, and you can finally play music on your Echo by just asking Alexa.

This seems to be the norm with Aramex.
I ordered twice from Amazon and had exactly the same experience.
Online Tracking says “Additional Information Required” but when contacting them they just say it’s in Customs and will take few more days.
Try complaining to Amazon. It usually speeds things up a bit.

Where in the address do you put Aramex account number in? I don't want the courier to ignore that piece of info ... Something tells me if I do so in the name location (but all in English characters)
