Aramex global shopper

Hmmm. So my >1 week processing time not good. Can't say I'll be running back to ags

Same here - won't be using the aramex shyteshow again - thats for sure.

My stuff still stuck in JHB - Customs Clearance - In Progress - over a week now. Absolutely pathetic service level. Phoned 4 times - emailed 4 times.

Are there any escalation points beyond Olivia?

1.5 weeks waiting in customs... is aramex broken?
Mine is less than that but the status hasn't changed since Sunday.

Today I find out Aramex want my ID and "import code" to clear the parcel. I sent the former but do not have the latter.

10 parcels a year or more will eventually get noticed as everything is computerised. Rather get a code and stay safe from a hefty fine.
This is a quite recent thread that is worth reading.

Also, search this thread as both I and MagicDude4Eva posted on how to obtain an importers code.

Thanks for the link. In it Weblord says an import code is for companies and not private individuals. He seems to think an ID will suffice.

The parcel I'm waiting for is from Amazon, I have already paid the customs charges.

Aramex Global Shopper FAQ page 3:

"SARS Customs in South Africa requires you to produce an Importers Code for customs clearance if you import goods into South Africa more than three (3) times in a single calendar year (either directly or through a clearing agent or courier company). The Importers Codes are issued by SARS.

The registration process for obtaining an Importers Code is quick and easy:

·*******Fill in the required application forms and relevant annexure(s):

o***DA185 - Application form: Registration/Licensing of Customs and Excise Clients

o***DA 185.4A1 - Registration Client Type 4A1- Importer

·*******Send all forms and supporting documents to the*nearest Customs and/or Excise office.

The validity period of the Importers Code is indefinite. There is no fee to register for the Importers Code and you should receive the Importers Code from SARS in approximately ten (10) business days.

Please note: Customs can levy a fine of up to R3000.00 or more if you are not in possession of an Importers Code and you have brought goods into the country on more than three (3) occasions in a single calendar year."

This is my third parcel from Amazon. Stuck in customs since sunday 29th,ID given to aramex on monday 30th.. 0 progress since

Same for me. Might be RSA customs, not necessarily Aramex. I've got a DHL parcel stuck since 29th April, and a Aramex parcel (via Amazon) stuck since May 1, both have had no progress since.

You tried to ship batteries? Then shizzoutaluck.
If not batteries, check if postbox-courier.com can help.
If yes, look up a NY courier that accepts card payments (like our Courier Guy /Xpress Online Couriers), pay and and get them to fetch it from Springfield Gardens and take to postbox-courier.
Of course, you had better have a PBC account first and let them know what is happening...

It's a vape so it has a Li-Po battery, but "Electronic Cigarette Accessories" are specifically listed as not being allowed to export from USA so it's probably that.

Will give postbox-courier a shout thanks.

So all we can do it wait it out?

This is not the first time, nor will it be the last time that Customs is slow.
Looking at my spreadsheet I see the oldest shipment was sent on the 18th April and is still in customs.
I usually receive 5-8 parcels a day, usually from Shanghai, so I need a spreadsheet to keep track of the logistics.

Complained on twitter. Response immediately. That was yesterday. Today I see an update after 9 days. And all it says, once again is

02/05 Customs clearance in progress.
02/05 Under processing at operations facility.
11/05 Customs clearance in progress.

So I guess customs. Still doesn't absolve ags for not communicating.

no it is not customs, customs clearance takes a matter of minutes.
Call Aramex 0114573000 and ask for Richard, tell him in a nice way the clowns at the clearing dept have taken over 9 days and no invoice, it will probably get sorted out today.

Google seem to be having a sale, perhaps because Mother's Day there is on the same day as ours - 13th May.
I managed to buy 2 x Google Home Mini's for $63.15.
This is through the Google Store. I don't quite know how I managed to fill in the billing details - Chrome on my tablet auto-filled it and I think it's the Springfield Gardens address.
Oh well, it worked.

Not sure if he will be able to cope with the amount of AGS issues but worth a try, seriously don't understand how Aramex clearing dept still haven't jacked up their game, all they do is create an endless loop of backlog in clearing.

Thanks for this. I went the Twitter route earlier, and they responded again immediately. An hour later I got an email from Vusi, (replying to an email 3 days ago) stating:

Please note we are currently facing delays with customs releases on shipments, your shipment is currently pending customs release, our clearance team is following up and we will advise as soon as we have a release on your shipment

Will try Richard Monday.
