Aramex global shopper

aaah shucks, I missed out on that coupon code and paid for basic membership

AARGH, I have just received ANOTHER shipment with a customs duty of R1395.
This time the Chinese invoice attached on Aramex webpage actually says USD, so I could be screwed.
Reminder to myself... When ordering from China, send a note stating that any invoice in parcel must be in CNY!

@DeeinSouthAfrica Got two questions for you if you dont mind me picking your brain.

Does the customs exemption work for all PC hardware like CPUs, GPU, PSU etc or just motherboards?

And with AGS if you have two separate but parallel orders arriving at the same time to the same AGS address do they pick up as two packages in AGS's side which might reset the weight counter? I.e if 1 order is 0.6Kg and the other is 0.2kg if they are joined then it's 0.8kg under the original 1kg tariff but if they were separated then it'd be two separate tariffs.

I use AGS Basic so separated cost would be 0.6kg - R304 + 0.2Kg - R199 but as a single order they would both fall under 1kg tarrif of R304

A loose and dirty rule goes like this - no duty if it isn't made here. Having said that - anything over R400 will go to customs anyway, and it would be a miracle if they just released it no charge.

Regarding parcels - you only get the weight break (parcels weighed together) if you are on Flex - I am, and always order a couple of parcels at the same time to take advantage of this.

New weird wrinkle - I won an auction in eBay, and when it came to pay I got this:
"To pay using PayPal, direct debit, or credit card, you must live in the same country as the seller. Please select a different payment method."
PayPal was out. Ebay wouldn't allow it. Card was out as the billing address was South Africa and eBay wouldn't allow that either.
Finally I got "the hell in" and started up the VPN blocker - and changed my card billing address to Springfield Gardens.
It worked.
Pissed me off though, as I feel like I did some fraud somehow.
Anyhow, I checked my bank and money was taken off.

@DeeinSouthAfrica We generally get the short end of the stick when it comes to convenience in these things. My Aramex package says "Shipment Not Found" when I try to send the invoice that they're requesting. With a time limit on the period you can send your invoice and an issue with the invoice delivery system makes for a nice chaotic explosion.

Literally took 2 weeks to ship my order 20Km between two close cities. From Shenzen to Hong Kong also taking into account the holiday they celebrated over there that you told me about. Honestly as long as it's not 4 months I'm waiting for a delivery like usually I'm fine with it.

Shipment not found usually mean your adblocker is blocking code on the website. Did this now happen to you without an ad blocker?

@Tinuva Oh shoot! I added an exception to adblocker and popperblocker and the tracking code work afterwards. Thanks man I appreciate the help

Issue is these people wrote 13USD (Aliexpress) on the order when it was 72USD now Aramex is requesting the invoice and they're gonna see conflicting details. Will this be an issue?

I got hit a R500 penalty for under decleration. The order was shipped in 3 consignments. The first 2 cleared without duty or vat. The third was stopped and required proof of payment and invoice. The delceared amount was for what was in the consignment not the whole order. SARS would not intertain the idea of a split order. They did open and enspect the package and I sent them a detailed invoice of what was ordered, what was in each consignment and the values. They couldn't work out that I had ordered 10 items and the package only had 2 items in it. I ended up just paying the R500 fine rather than take 10 years off my life trying to sort it out. The company in China did reimburse me R250.

Always ask the company if you can do 2 payments. One must be the amount of the decleared value. The other the balance. When SARS / Aramex asks for proof of payment you can show the decleared amount on your bank statment.

If it's just a superficial thing then the invoice can be altered which I'm sure is illegal so I'd rather send them the original invoice with the original amount. I didn't request for the seller to undercut the deceleration amount they did it out of their own.

Unfortunatly it is the importer's (i.e. your) responsability to ensure the correct value is on the decleration. So if they make a mistake, your pay. That's just the way SARS works. And SARS requires your proof of payment to avoid people submitting bogus invoices.

So I just bought a OnePlus 6 from Amazon India not knowing they use a OTP for security upon delivery.

Does anyone know how do I go about making sure that Aramex have the pin when the packages are being delivered in Mumbai?

Phone Aramex. I bet this is not the first time this has happened, after all, South Africa is only one of the multitude of countries that use Amazon India via Aramex Shop & Ship Mumbai.
