Aramex global shopper

Perhaps you need to use the same card's number that you are using to pay the shipping charges to get the discount? :confused: I'm just waiting for the NY branch to update the system with a package that arrived there on Monday and I will confirm if the FNB promo code still works. ;)

As for eBay, I gave up. Hong Kong is a special administrative region of the PRC and that is probably the reason why it is not included in the list of states for China when creating an address on eBay.

Try adding the address via the account control area of the website, not at checkout.

Got wacked with R331.18 customs for $51.52USD worth of electronics ;_;

Don't understand how
2x 433 Transmitters
2x Aerials
1x 1500mah Li-Poly battery
1x Charger
Fits under automotive parts :/

I did try, but it too had the same drop down options in that area of the site. :erm:

Yeah, I don't know what is going on with AGS, because lately it feels like they are just slapping customs charges onto everything. Even things in the past that didn't incur duties are now being hit with duty charges. I actually tried emailing Mark Mahoney in the hopes that he could shed some light on what is happening, but the best he could say was that he shared my concerns and would forward my email on to someone else to address them. Unfortunately I never received any feedback after that. :(

Just put any random province, the postal service will figure it out.

$51.25 = R732.15
Duty = 0.125(1.1 x 732.15) = R100.67
VAT = 0.14(732.15 + 100.67) = R116.59
R50 clearance fee

R267.26 is what you should've been charged for electronics, automotive parts probably charged at around 18% to get to the R330

I think they mean you need to have signed up with the same FNB card that you are trying to use for the shipping discount. Or maybe you are trying to pay via PayPal? I also got the invalid promo code when trying to go via PayPal, but it worked when paying with a credit card (normal FNB cheque card). Or maybe the promo is over. I'll soon find out - theres a parcel at the UK depot for which I uploaded the invoice and I'm waiting for the payment option to become available.

Did you go to the top left hand side of ebay (above the ebay written in Red Blue Yellow + Green) ?
Click on your name, then account settings.
Now you are in my Account.
Left hand side 2nd option is Addresses.
Now you click the "Change" option on primary shipping address.
You will see the primary address is South Africa, but it gives you the option to add other addresses.
Add the main Aramex addresses you think you will use.
Be careful to leave the SA address as primary, or all things you order will automatically go to the address you leave as the primary address !
Now, when you order on checkout you will see your SA address as primary. However, now there will be a drop down section where you can choose any other saved Aramex address.

Hahahaha, goodness I had given up on this. Damaged shipment arrived 12 May, got my insurance payment today 28 July...

Can confirm the FNB promo code which uses the first 6 digits of your card number still works:

Has anyone used Aramex to order from Aliexpress? Where is the quickest depot to have the items posted too. As China is not listed as an option on Aliexpress.

Hong Kong if possible, otherwise I use Singapore for items not available to be sent to China. Can sometimes take a while though.

I find out that changing the address when it comes to Ebay (and probably Aliexpress) confuses the crap out of the seller.
Always send a message and explain to him why you are asking him to send to Hong Kong and not South Africa. Say something like; "please send to my HK address who will then courier it to me in South Africa." Keep language simple as your words will be translated into Chinese.
That way they know what is happening, and probably assume you don't trust the local post office, which really is a correct assumption.

I set my PayPal and eBay addresses to the same(just change your default each time), they have no clue I'm I'm actually in SA.

Oh btw the reason most aliexpress sellers don't ship to China is that they get rather hectic tax breaks from the Chinese government for exporting.

I'm guessing Hong Kong doesn't count as exporting as in the past I've had to use Singapore and now I'm using Tokyo as a hub.

It would be great if users can share their shipping time from China/HK to other hubs like Japan, South Korea, Malaysia & Singapore
if wanting to buy from Aliexpress. I'm not sure what is the fastest or have no customs.
Because if using an AGS address outside of the country you are importing from, you might have to pay additional taxes in the transit country with the AGS address and when it lands in SA, you pay taxes a second time.

+1 that would be much appreciated

So my latest shipment from the UK has been on hold since the Tuesday 26th because the seller didn't include an invoice. I uploaded one on the AGS site for the shipment, but no update yet. Do I need to email helpdesk as well? My last shipment was on hold for a day or two but then moved pretty quickly.
