Aramex global shopper

Mine's on hold at the UK depot it seems, hasn't even been shipped to SA.

Sometimes a complaint on HelloPeter is required in order for them to do something ;)

Take it as read that the knobs are not in South Africa, but are most certainly in the UK. I ordered a broken iphone for parts and the seller also did not include an invoice. I could prove that Aramex UK signed for it and that it had been sitting in the UK warehouse for over 2 weeks without a peep from them. I contacted Vusi with the name of the UK guy that signed and Vusi sorted the mess out in 2 days.

ORDER DATE Jan 28, 2016 from China
Arrived in Singapore Aramex Feb 11
As it is a bonded warehouse (just passing through) there are no taxes in SG.
No customs stay in SA, so delivered Cape Town Feb 16.

Then we get the UK knobs....

Finally found in Aramex UK on Feb 24
Delivered Cape Town March 14th after 6 days in customs.

Aramex Hong Kong are the best. Both times I have used them it has taken 5 days from receipt of item to delivery in Cape Town.

So far free shipping from aliexpress to Singapore is a bit slow. Still hasn't arrived at aramex and I ordered on 15th June. Never use the free shipping.

My parcel from gearbest shipped from Shenzhen to Tokyo using DHL Delivery costs: $3.76 + Insurance: $3.26

The HK address works well.
If ordering from a HK site(and the item is in stock) the seller usually ships for free or $1-2 with DHL or SF Express to the AGS address in HK in a day.

I'm only sad about since the 1st of Jan 2016 AGS doesn't ship lithium battery items anymore.
Normal Aramex can still ship.
Do you or someone know if this has since changes?

I doubt they will, and it isn't Aramex that is at fault. They use the mainline carriers for small items and airlines such as SAA and BA refuse to ship batteries anymore.

They labelled it as 'batteries' (lowercase so I assume hand entered), then changed to 'Others' today and it's Departed.

Also I got Aramex wokring on firefox by disabling my ad blocker :/

Yes, cargo aircraft deliver batteries. Those are the aircraft you see with no windows as they transport cargo only and have safeguards in place to transport large amounts of lithium batteries. Most Chinese companies ship to the Netherlands and send to SA from there. Why? I don't know.
On the other hand, small orders get shipped on mainline air carriers, and batteries and passengers on aircraft do not mix well.
I'm not saying you won't get batteries delivered by AGS, but they have to be well aware of what you have ordered and then can plan the route accordingly. If there is a cargo aircraft belonging to Eidelweiss cargo heading to JHB that's great, your order gets added to the manifest.
You also notice that AGS ask for invoice before shipping. That's so they can plan things. It's not just for customs.

Lol, they changed a restricted item to "Other"? You should thank someone. :)

I was looking at the Ram courier page as they have a comprehensive list of what is not allowed and what is restricted (as is you can import under certain conditions.) It makes for interesting reading...

I had the same jammed tracking on a package that left NY on the 28th, has arrived and is in customs already but tracking still shows it as leaving New York. Back-end not talking to the tracking API somewhere.

Finally got my stuck package in HK manifested, now a typhoon has shut the airport...

Usually it updates really fast, it just popped up in Johannesburg without listing the usual Dubai entries so I think their tracking system is a bit fugged.

Ditto. Especially since all my parcels have been getting hit with customs charges which then adds another R50 handling fee to the shipping total. :mad:

This is why I try to help the process along by uploading an invoice to the site the second they add a record for a parcel to their system.

I think it's iffy because it links to a PDF, otherwise the list is actually pretty comprehensive and clear about what they do not allow.

I was disappointed after reading that list and discovering I could not use AGS to order a replacement tube of Arctic Silver 5 and Arctic Clean. :(

I'm sure members can download a pdf rather than murdering our poor mouse wheels.
