Aramex global shopper

My parcel arrived at the NY address yesterday, but there has been no update in my Aramex account yet. It shows "signed by Jermaine". Am I expecting too much too soon? My UK parcel showed up as soon as it was delivered to that address.

Don't even try and pay via the webpage. This is what I see if I try and pay with an FNB card they have on file.
Thank goodness the app works okay.

I really wish I had known that before I tried paying. Sigh.

Yeah mine took about a week (3-5 days, can't remember exactly) after USPS delivered it to the NY address for Aramex to register it had arrived.

Thanks. Mine was just registered as received after I emailed support :-)

Same issue with customs delay. One parcel from amazon directly and another from an amazon reseller.

Thanks. Sent them an email. Got an auto reply with a ref number. They said AGS UK should process it today. Will wait and see.

Have any of you used Royal Mail 1st class? Royal Mail tracking page just says it was delivered but Tarryn from AGS South Africa wants a signed proof of delivery.

So im looking at getting a cheap action camera either from gearbest or one of the other chinese sites. Ive used gearbest in the past with aramex and had to foot a heavy bill for clearing customs.

Can AGS help with this if I use gearbest or should I try shopping elsewhere, e,g ebay?
Any ideas on how much would I expect to pay for shipping and clearance for a $50 action camera?

Happy New Year, and before anyone makes mistakes and starts the year by incurring a huge SARS import duty, please read this:

For a comprehensive list of Customs Duties and taxes tariffs applicable to your shipments, please refer to the below SARS links:

For a list of Excise Duties applicable on your shipments, please refer to the below link:
http://www.sars.gov.za/AllDocs/LegalDoclib/SCEA1964/LAPD-LPrim-Tariff-2012-06 - Schedule No 1 Part 2B.pdf

This is in your Aramex Global Shopper FAQ's (Home Page / Help / FAQ's / Page 2).

If in doubt about something - ask us on this forum before you import that expensive toy. We might be able to help.

Lastly - never, ever under-declare something. This goes for Aramex, DHL and any other international courier you could name. If you get caught, the penalty is horrendous and no one will help you - it is between you and SARS (and SARS ensure you cannot appeal).

As regards your last point - we are a registered importer and distributor of industrial networking hardware into SA. We primarily deal on a project basis with our customers, where we occasionally obtain a volume-based project discount from our supplier in the UK and pass that onto the customer. The problem we experienced on our last such shipment, was that SARS enforced a penalty on us for supposedly under-declaring the value of the goods, even though the supplier invoice clearly showed the project-discount against the listed prices (items have previously been imported at those listed values), and we had sent on the relevant emails to the shipper for them to sort out (UPS in this case, but we have switched to DHL for better service). We are now faced with a similar situation on an upcoming shipment, and are unsure how to deal with it (?) Any advice would be welcome.

I have had this situation twice before.
Both times the supplier under-declared the goods, customs picked up on the discrepancy and levied a R2000 penalty.
I appealed until I had no choice but to pay for the goods and penalty or lose the shipment to the state warehouse.
Never again. Now I ship through an Aramex Origin address. In other words, Chinese shipments go through Shanghai, British through Slough etc.
If there are discrepancies in invoicing, the onus falls on Aramex JHB to sort it out, and not me.
I always upload the correct invoice to Aramex, and they surely have trained people to compare uploaded invoice to shipped invoice.
I also always state to the shipper to never include invoice in parcel.
Even with all this, I know for sure Aramex was caught out once already, as someone at the JHB office mentioned it.
I would suggest that you get Flex from Aramex Global Shopper (R1500 per year) as I find it is worth every cent.

Hello has anyone ever had a phone come to SA through Aramex global shopper if so how it the tax and duties calculated. Applogoies if this has been addressed before.

Customs take the price of your phone and add on 9%. They then add on 15% VAT on everything.
Bottom line is 24%. Then aramex add on a R50 clearance fee, like a bright red cherry on a pile of turd.

Not on Aramex Global Shopper. Even on Flex I have a hard time getting combined shipping. The parcels have to arrive at Shanghai on the same day - it takes some very fine logistical juggling. Luckily Aramex has an office next to Shanghai Hongqiao, a slower airport in Shanghai. If sending to HK or JFK with a zillion flights a minute you can totally forget combining as your parcel will be off with the next batch and on that plane lickety-split.
If wanting to combine small items, try www.postbox-courier.com.

Would have been really nice if they told me this or you know, stopped me from paying. The money has already been taken off my cc but aramex still tells me I need to pay. So I don't know whats going on.

It seems the app is broken too. I can't see any of my packages on the app and can't pay using the normal website either.

Goodluck! I'm glad I finally got mine sorted out. I'm certainly not ordering anything until they're well through this "teething" period.

I had something delivered to the NY address on Saturday. How long should it take to shop up on the website?
