Aramex global shopper

Lol, nice idea, but no. Knowledge is here to be shared, and sometimes the people who ask for help are still students.

Just to clarify, the idea was not to remove any of your posts on here or get you to stop posting here but to rather collate all your existing knowledge in one place. Nonetheless, kudos to you for your constant willingness to help out.

Another alternative suggestion: perhaps you should consider starting a new thread with all your and other people's existing advice, combined in the first post and updated as things change. That way, common questions can be directed to the first post of the thread. It's just a thought and my motivation here is simply to preserve the invaluable advice scattered throughout this thread.

I was successful with address details ordering from Wish.com, I used south korea

Interested to see when the stuff will arrive. 3-4+ Months via SAPO usually

Just wanted to ask if your stuff did arrive and how long did it take? I also have an Aramex account and want to order from Wish.com.

Slightly off topic.

I received two parcels with TNT in the past month.
One declared $25 : No customs, duties or any other local charges.
Other declared >$25 : Clearance fee of R437 plus the "normal" taxes.

R437 is some good money for a phone call and an invoice that probably takes them 2 minutes to generate.

Didn't seem to work with Aramex SA.

It should work - South Africa / Namibia / Botswana are the only countries that have Aramex Global Shopper. Aramex can't call themselves Shop & Ship here (like in the rest of the world) as there is already an established Shop & Ship, and it ain't them.

I just discovered a hyperlink redirect:

why from Wish? Go look if Banggood don't stock the item and use their Direct shipping

Does Banggood via Buffalo work? I was just having a private conversation about that - HelloPeter has bad things to say about Buffalo: https://www.hellopeter.com/buffalo-logistics
Seems safer to use the nearest Aramex address and get it sent to SA that way - at least Aramex have a solid delivery backbone here. I think they could even deliver to the nearest PostNet branch if asked (not that I have ever asked).

BG via Buffalo works very well - my last parcel took only 5 days - I've had about 20 parcels through them and longest time was 14 days

Anyone know if there's a backlog? Got a parcel stuck at scanned at Aramex facility here in SA since the 29th.

"Multiple shipments, under different waybills but received on the same date, import manifest and flight, are combined by SARS for the purpose of assessing the total value of importation into South Africa."

Look at the customs duty on my imports. Before now there was rarely any duty, but now?
This hurts.

Riddle me this.

I sign up for AGS on the 14th of Feb because I found a discount voucher in one of the store-to-door Aramex sleeves. A week later I get notified there is an incoming shipment for me from the USA. Couple of days after that I get told there is outstanding shipping due on the shipment. Now I have no clue what it is as I have never used AGS until that point, only signed up.

Reluctantly I pay R200 via PayPal and another week passes. Then follows a month long back and forth where they want an invoice for the shipment so they can tax it. In the end I tell them to refund me and throw it away as I have no idea what it is. They keep pestering me so I fake an invoice and uploaded it. That was around 6 weeks ago.

Last week I log onto Paypal and lodge a request for refund against AGS for the R200. Today the "shipment" shows up at the office. It is marked as "documentation" and inside the envelope is just a bunch of news articles printed out about the crap going on in Zimbabwe. Also some Amazon book searched fro "Joss le Roux" and a few other weird articles from news sites and Wikipedia.

WTF?! Anyone else had this happen to them? Is this just a AGS way to scheme money out of new users?

I see no enrichment for anyone, so what type of scam would this be?
The mere fact that you paid for the shipment means you accepted responsibility for it. The fact you uploaded a fake invoice constitutes fraud, as the invoice did not match contents.
Why on earth pay for a shipment when you know it wasn't yours? It could have been an envelope full of cocaine. Things get inspected at customs and you could have been sitting in jail right now trying this story on an uncaring police constable, who most certainly would not believe you.

The how and why of this escapes me. All I can say to anyone who reads this is - don't be an idiot. Don't pay a cent.
If you don't know the shipment and certainly never ordered it - ask Aramex for a photo of the parcel. If you still don't recognise it you can insist a customs officer open it (this is not a free service).
After that, if it is still not your parcel, instruct Aramex to destroy it.

I had a similar issue. Ordered item from ebay seller, received it, all happy ect.
Then a month later received a surprise parcel at my AGS address. Noticed its from the same ebay seller I previously ordered item. Message him asking whats up, and found he by mistake put my address on again, instead of the actual buyer. I tried to get AGS to ship it back or let seller pick it up, but they were not interested at all. Made it clear I don't want item, and they told me its going to get destroyed.

Till today no idea what happened to that package, but it was removed from my AGS account.

Looking at the Skynet website their latest news is last year, on September 11th to be exact.
Also, the date of your information is very suspect.

I purchased clothing for under R500.Skynet sent it to customs and when I questioned why they responded saying its the new rule and all shipping companies are in the process of implementation

I went back in this thread and had a look at that Skynet blurb again.
It says consolidated clearance (as in more than one item).
This means they are operating the same as Aramex - you order items in separate shipments that equal R500 or more, it goes to customs as one shipment.
Why they then go onto to say that EVERY parcel is sent to customs I don't understand.

Ah, you probably don't know me very well then
Compared to some of the general public I deal with, you ain't half bad. Just think before accepting strange shipments next time.

Sometimes you do get duplicate orders from a supplier you have ordered from - case in point, two Christmases ago I ordered a fibre ready modem from the USA and asked the seller to include an EU plug as I going to give it as a gift to a non-USA resident.
They agreed, and soon Aramex NY said there was a shipment for me.
A couple of days later they informed me that I had another shipment, same weight, same supplier.
Needless to say I knew exactly what it was, but did ask Aramex for a photo, just in case.
Yep, Netgear modem #2. I uploaded Aramex the same invoice.

The difference here is that I knew the seller. I asked for a photo, and I made a point of emailing Aramex stating that this shipment was unknown, but it was probably the same as the previous shipment
I knew Aramex wouldn't give a toss, having a zillion parcels a minute to move, but I played it above board.
As for the seller? His mistake. We all know that getting parcels into SA is relatively cheap. Sending parcels out is obscenely expensive.

Well I see it as R200 for a strange story.

But at least know I know random stuff can show up on your AGS and next time, if I am not expecting anything, I will instruct them to return to sender.

So I decided to join Aramex as I can't get a shipping quote for an outgoing parcel without logging in. So I click on new account and enter email address and details - and it says this email address already has an account.
I log into Aramex using my Aramex Global Shopper details and voila...
I still have to email them for a quote as I am a cash customer (as in I don't pay a statement at the end of the month like a business does), but still, it's nice to know the account number works on both the blue webpage and the red webpage.
