Aramex global shopper

If I order an item for $30 +-R430 what should I expect to pay for delivery using aramex shopper?

From my calculations something light in typical shoebox size would measure 2.5kg volumetric so just over R600. That's before customs right?

SNIP
The how and why of this escapes me. All I can say to anyone who reads this is - don't be an idiot. Don't pay a cent.
If you don't know the shipment and certainly never ordered it - ask Aramex for a photo of the parcel. If you still don't recognise it you can insist a customs officer open it (this is not a free service).
After that, if it is still not your parcel, instruct Aramex to destroy it.

Well, how do you know if you ordered it or not, if you don't know the content? Probably happened twice, with me. Where couriers knocked on my door, to deliver a parcel, where I argued that I'm not expecting anything or didn't ordered anything. Then, when I opened the parcel................ooooohhh, yes, now I remember. Then I actually did ordered something, just slipped my mind.

I purchased clothing for under R500. Skynet sent it to customs and when I questioned why they responded saying its the new rule and all shipping companies are in the process of implementation

Why? Well, 1. Everything goes through customs, even R5 items. How is customs suppose to know the value of a parcel, if they don't handle it? and 2. All clothes, even if under R500, is suppose to be taxed.

Shipping is calculated according to weight.
Customs duty is calculated on invoice amount and import tarrif.
New rule - everything gets stopped. Even if your import attracts no duty there is 15% VAT added to the invoice amount. Then Aramex clearance agents add their R57. 50 (R50 + VAT).
Technically speaking, it isn't duty, just VAT and clearance fees.
We know it as the government's slice.

Uh, really?
Aramex sometimes can be slow, but max time is 3 weeks. They are not seamail slow.
The also notify you by email a zillion times, each and every time the shipment gets scanned.
If you've forgotten what you ordered you can even access your uploaded invoice from the Aramex page.

Weight or volumetric weight? I know flex is normal weight.

Yip and invoice is item +shipping from the online store. The aramex shipping wont be included in the customs amount, right?

Weight. I'm also on Flex.
I have had local USA /China shipping included in the amount to be taxed plenty of times, even if it is totally unfair.

Ja, I was actually just talking in general, not Aramex specifically. But it happens with them too. Once I ordered from Gearbest and only after the order was placed, they told me that item was out of stock. So I didn't keep an close eye on when it shipped. Month and a half later, knock on the door......

So just want to clarify the volumetric weight issue. I don’t see anywhere on the website or quote system where they speak of volumetric weight. There is mention of ODD service fee. Does this not apply to flex?

Found this. Is this for only their stores on shop and ship or what?

Each package is shipped separately.

Yes confirmed thanks.
My package has arrived in Hong Kong from Aliexpress but its on hold as they require an invoice. Should i contact Aliexpress for it or just screenshot the total.
Surely by now Aliexpress should know to send these things automatically?

You take a screenshot. No .png, Aramex reject it.
Use a snipping tool and save as a .jpg.
If really skilled, save as a .pdf, as this is the #1 preferred choice.

Aramex Global Shopper is Shop & Ship. Its just that they can't use that here as Shop & Ship an existing company.
Aramex Global Shopper works on weight (not volumetric). There is a calculator on the webpage.

Thanks for the reply.

So even if you not on flex it’s weight?

Also was is that about ODD service fee?
