Aramex global shopper

Wish I could use this code. My parcel has been stuck at the NY depot since last Wednesday.

Not sure if everybody else is also experiencing slow service.
I’m pretty sure everyone is experiencing slow service times at this moment.

Mine took 2 day and 3 days respectively to get processed and the latter took another 3-4 days to arrive in SA.

How do we go about getting an importers code?

- They did not accept my Eskom statement as proof of address "because it did not look original" (it's a printed PDF in color)
- I also needed to provide them with a "letter of consent" that I am really the one applying for the code (which is obvious since I also supplied the DA185 forms)

It is now attempt number 3 at it....

4th attempt worked like a charm. All of the above applied. SARS was super sticky about getting original bank-statements with a stamp. They would not accept statements via internet banking or printed in the branch and we had to print statements via Autobank (SBSA) and then have them stamped by the bank. They also required a written letter from the bank confirming that those statements really belong to me.

Since I only have electronic statements (proof of address), I printed both an Eskom statement and a CoJ statement on a color laser printer on thicker paper (looks more "official") and then got it "notarised" by HR with a nice colorful commissioner of oath stamp.

Got the confirmation from SARS this morning (a proper letter from SARS with the importers code) and have forwarded this to Aramex who have loaded it onto my profile. Caveat is: I have nothing to order right now :-(
I literally had to write my own letter (on my own letterhead) to confirm that I am really applying and also to confirm my details (F**** knows why, as all of this in the application) - like this:
To Whom It May Concern:

Affidavit: Consent of application for importers code in private capacity and Confirmation of mobile number

Dear South African Revenue Service,

As requested I would like to confirm that I, XXXXX (ID Number XXXX), am applying for an importers code to be used in my private capacity for private consumption as per submitted DA185-4A1 and DA 185.

I furthermore would like to confirm that my only means of telephonic contact is via my mobile pre-paid number, +27 83 XXXXX which is serviced via the carrier CellC. Pre-paid numbers do not have invoices or statements and the ownership of my number can be confirmed via a RICA subscriber request to CellC directly via SARS. Alternatively you can verify my SARS income-tax record for income tax number XXXX, which also has the same mobile number on record.

Should you require any further information do not hesitate to contact me directly on +27 83 XXXXX.

Warm regards,

Ok, I am trying out the Aliexpress to Hong Kong Aramex now to see how things go. Using SF Express (free) to HK, then AGS to Cape Town.

I will give feedback.

I ordered something through amazon who already charge you for customs duties upfront but now got an email from aramex asking for an invoice, bank statement, and ID or importers code.

Why do I feel extra fees will be due...

Have you used them before?

I haven't used aramex for a while and especially not for high value items. How long does it usually take for the parcel to show up under AGS once it's been delivered to them? Had a parcel delivered to NY 2 days ago and still not showing up.

Amazon shipments to the New York Origin should only attract New York City and NY State sales tax of 8.875%. There is no customs duty charged by Amazon on local deliveries.
Unless you are talking about something sent by Amazon straight to your door? I know they use Aramex or DHL.

Two days is the average wait. They and the UK are the busiest hubs.

So shipped directly from Amazon to your door, no AGS involved? There should not be any additional fees involved as Amazon prepays that.

Edit: Only saw this now

But if it's a third party seller on Amazon you may need to pay customs

Hi. I ordered a package from Amazon some time ago, and I still haven't received it. It should have been delivered on 13 May, but still havent gotten it yet.

Also, according to their tracking services, they tried delivering it to me twice, but I "wasn't available". This isn't true because I was at home BOTH times.

Now they want an updated delivery address, and again my address hasn't changed.

Any advice for me? I don't know what to do anymore

Depending on where you stay, maybe you can collect from the depot?

Unfortunately, that's not an option for me. I talked to Aramax and they'll try again tomorrow.

Apparently the delivery guy failed to "look around the corner", since I live in a flat at the corner of a street

Your package containing IPhone and weighing 1.75 lb under the Airway Bill No. XXX has arrived at your New York Aramex Global Shopper account. You can track your package online at aramexglobalshopper.com.

Do all phones show up as iPhone? Or did someone swap out my shiny new OP phone for his old POS iPhone? :O

Hi guys new AGS user here. Long story short tried to order via Google store, they ended up cancelling the order, but the box for the phone trade in was still sent and has now reached the NY Aramex branch. Not keen to pay to ship an empty box to SA. Any way to cancell the shipment, have them destroy the box etc?
