Aramex global shopper

Hi guys new AGS user here. Long story short tried to order via Google store, they ended up cancelling the order, but the box for the phone trade in was still sent and has now reached the NY Aramex branch. Not keen to pay to ship an empty box to SA. Any way to cancell the shipment, have them destroy the box etc?

Explain what happened. They will understand.

People, please stay away from BestBuy and Google Store. Neither one will send to a shipper, and in Google's case they know exactly where you are located. In fact they probably know your sexual preference and what you had for lunch today.

Shot thanks Dee. True Google of all places will know :)

Saw 2018 posts where it still worked plus getting a $250 trade in seemed like a deal too good to pass up!

Another question - received a mail from AGS now saying another package was received but there was issues with allocating it to my account and is on hold. It's in the app though, so seems fine.

The sender did use the number but not the PRY prefix, which I guess was the issue.

No action needed from me for this package from what I can see?

Stick your account number on the top line, along with your name. It does work, I have had no hassles in over a year.

Same thing happened to me about 2 months ago. Google said NOPE. Bloody annoying, I know.
Weird though as from what I understand from a journos article and a google tweet/post the point of the store selector is that you can for example buy a phone for a friend in the US while I stay in SA and have it delivered to them.

Even tried again with a new US gmail account etc but no sigar.

Feedback on my Aliexpress order sent to Aramex in Hong Kong by SF Express:

Order placed on 21 May, sent 22 May, Signed for by Aramex on 23 May. Super fast. Now to see now long Aramex takes to allocate the package to me and deliver.

What's the timing like for NY to SA?

Seems like 2 days after delivery for them to receive the package and then after that? 2 days to process and 3-6 days for SA delivery?

Took 2 days for my parcel to get to the NY drop point. 2 more days to reach customs in JHB. 4 days to pass through customs. Then another week before it was delivered, this was to an outlying area. Perhaps faster to a major city.

1st time using AGS

8 days from Germany to my door!

Quite impressed!!

- They did not accept my Eskom statement as proof of address "because it did not look original" (it's a printed PDF in color)

Each and every thing I took along to SARS for my import number came from e-mail PDF statements. BUT... i printed two copies of each document, went to the police station and had them look at one copy and certify the other. I took all of the certified copies with me to SARS and submitted that. I was expecting there to be some issue, but that's typical government for you: a certified copy of a fraudulent document is worth more than an original you printed yourself.

In terms of weekends and public holidays, how does that affect ones shipment?

I imagine it's a 24/7 business, well maybe until it hits our shores...

One of my parcels has atleast left NY on Friday, but no update since.

Crazy fast service!
21 May - Order placed on Aliexpress
24 May - Received by Aramex Hong Kong 24 May
27 May- Cleared customs in Johannesburg

Almost too good to be true. Aramex must surely find some way to delay this now.

Not 24/7. Aramex don't work Sundays. You will see things listed at different times, but that is time zone specific. Also take into account that today is Memorial Day in the USA - a holiday, so anything at NY will not move until lunchtime (our time) tomorrow.

Thanks good to know!
No slower time than waiting for package delivery, not even microwave minutes :)

Co-worker ordered direct from Amazon Friday afternoon with the expidited shipping option and received the package this morning already. That's well done! Would struggle getting it that fast if it was a local order.

Hi.
I ordered a small $9 item from Aliexpress on 9 May expecting to wait 3+ months.
Took 2 weeks to get to SA and another week for 1st JHB INT. post office scan and to get to me in Cape Town.
I'm shocked (pleasantly) - here's hoping this is the new normal...

Probably happened only because seller sent airmail. Most sellers send seamail.
