Aramex global shopper

I'm about to order a 3D printer that can be shipped from the USA or from China. Any thoughts on which one will get here faster?

China as in Hong Kong or Shanghai?
If Shanghai be very careful to get the address correct - and in Chinese.

上海 上海市 闵行区 虹桥镇上海市闵行区沪青平公路248弄15号1号库 201105 (YOUR NAME & ACCOUNT NUMBER) 4006318388

As someone who gets deliveries from Shanghai and NY every week I will tell you there is not much difference in speed between the two.

Shenzen and Shanghai are different cities in China though

Quite far apart I see. But Shenzhen is where they are shipping from, and local (China) shipping is free.

I guess another option is to ask them to ship to Hong Kong. I don't know what the best will be.

Has anyone ever used AGS's return service? How does it work exactly? I'm guessing you can only return to the address a package was originally shipped from?

Hi, I have been using AGS for some time now, but it is the first time from China. I ordered sonof iems to the value of R4000 directly from ITEAD in China, for local delivery to the Shangai AGS office. They charged 2USD for delivery so I think it is probably normal local shipping on that side. I was trying to save money by not using the courier as that would have been extremely expensive and I figured their local postage system would work a 1000 times better than ours, yeah I know for a shipment of that value I should probably have opted for the expensive courier option instead. In any case, I am extremely worried, I only saw this morning that there is mention on this thread to rather enter the Shangai AGS ddress in mandarin, and I did not do this, I entered it in the normal english format. Do you guys think this is a major problem and that my parcel won't reach the Shanghai AGS office? Has anyone used the english address format in China for local delivery that side (not courier) to AGS? As it has already been shipped I am not able to ask ITEAD to change the delivery address anymore.

Brakanjan I'm holding thumbs for you.

I placed an order last night that ships from Shenzhen, China. I typed in the Chinese characters for the Shanghai address and then couldn't get myself to click next. I was so scared that it would go missing. I ended up using the Hong Kong address. Extra shipping costs, but the peace of mind is worth it.

Thanks MegaTesla, next time I'll do the same. I will let you guys know if it reaches AGS Shanghai with the english address though, I really hope it does.

Ordered digitizer for Toyota Prius MFD and it never even occurred to me to modify address. It was all in English and I had zero problems. Have also been using AGS for awhile now and it was my first shipment from mainland China to HK AGS office. If anyone is looking for MFD digitizers let me know and I'll put you in contact with shipper :) Service was beyond excellent!

Note the Chinese address is backwards. It starts with Shanghai and works back to No1.

Now, having said this - we are not the only country that uses Aramex Global Shopper (Known worldwide as Shop & Ship, but not here).
Every Shop & Ship country uses the same address as written by Aramex, and whatever the address is, it will probably get there as hundreds of parcels per day must go there.

Howzit,

This thread is massive! Please forgive me if this has been answered before ( I attempted 30 pages before I realised I need to post)

I would like to find a way to send 2nd hand items to friends and family in SA from the UK. SAPO is not fit for purpose. Recently a friend said have you tried aramex as you can get a discount for being with FNB. I thought OK perhaps I could just purchase things off ebay or get a friend to collect and post, then redirect to an Aramex Hub for shipping to SA. I looked at the price per kg and it seemed good. (To interject I have had bery bad experiences in the past with DHL) I am currently, thanks to this thread, looking at other alternatives eg Gary PB courier.

Aramex is still a good price and there is no rush. Has anyone used Aramex like this before? IE having someone in the country of origin they can trust send it via Aramex.

Thanks in advance.

You do not need an account as you are the sender. Whoever you are sending the goods to needs to have an Aramex Global Shopper account.
However - beware of what you send. Clothes, makeup and shoes incur a lot of duty. I don't know how much, but the same fast and loose rule applies as I have quoted before - If it is made here (in SA), expect to pay a lot of duty.
You will also need to add an invoice to the parcel, even if the clothes are second hand, as Aramex work on invoices.

I have shipped a few times from Shenzen to Shaghai using the English address, although I used SF Express shipping method. If you package is trackable, then you shouldn't really have much too worry about.
