Aramex global shopper

That's the normal aramex app. You can use it to make mobile payments on ags stuff en see status in more details. When I queried this with them yesterday they were almost surprised on why I know the details...

I smell a rat.

Very strange

Where did you purchase the items from. Amazon US?

I must say that my experience with AGS with my first 2 packages has been excellent apart from a glitch where they miscalculated the shipping cost and this was rectified quickly.

Not sure why some people are complaining. It must be dodgy goods they importing

I ordered some small plastic boxes from Germany for R150.

AGS charged R199 for shipping.

Now they want to charge me R500 in taxes.

Told them to fix it, but no dice, have been waiting for two months.

Problem is related to some made-up values that Aramex put on the shipment.

Sample size of 2 is pretty small. If you keep using them you will also later understand why people sometimes complain. There is a lot that can go wrong...

Also have an issue that after I paid the customs,
then I got a mail to say they miscalculated the customs and gave me a account number to pay by EFT the outstanding amount.
I told them I need a proper invoice and I use paypal not EFT.
They never provided the invoice or an update, they did release the package during during their emails.

Been 5 months now, haven't bought anything using them since.

The clearance clerks Aramex use are probably overworked and underpaid. Or they are all morons.
I don't trust them at all, especially as far as accurate releasing of shipments is concerned.
I always make a screen grab of the correct HTS code (Customs & Excise Tariff):

https://www.sars.gov.za/AllDocs/Leg...4 - Schedule No 1 Part 1 Chapters 1 to 99.pdf

This I upload along with the invoice. I also make sure I actually write on the uploaded invoice what the currency is. In other words, if from China, I actually write on the invoice that the amount is in Chinese Renmimbi.

Why do we have to pay R50 Customs Clearance PT Charge? I disputed this with them and they say it's a clearance charge - this is BS and can't see this anywhere on a FAQ or T&Cs....

So basically aramex can add any charge they want and keep our parcels because they need to save up for their year end party?

I would query it with Amazon. Also have package arriving this week but might take future purchases to Newegg.

It's got nothing to do with Amazon. It was shipped using AGS. They now add a R50 fee for "customs clearance" which we should cover!?!

It's standard practice with couriers... DHL etc charge 150, others 200. 50 isn't bad.
If its a low cost item they don't charge anything

So AGS have overcharged me about R800 customs on R1000 delivery.... They expected me to pay this until I started to fight them. They have now confirmed it's their fault and will send me a new invoice... hopefully, this year.

Using AGS for the first time...

Have a parcel that I sent to my US address, and it's received by Aramex and appearing in my profile.

What are the next steps? When does it ship to SA? When do I get a quote and pay?

Ok so an update, I placed an order with Amazon US on 15 Jul 2019 during the Prime Sale. Was shipped to Aramex on 17 July and first appeared on my Aramex account on 18 July. Purchase price was USD 169, but was charged US tax of USD 15 so total cost of USD 184.

A couple of days later I was debited R 199 for shipping charges.

Item arrived in JNB on 23 July, and cleared customs on 26 July at which time I was charged VAT of R392.85 and AGS Clearance of R50 (total: R442.85), and was delivered on 29 July.

Purchase Price R2557.60 (USD 184 at 1 USD = 13.90 ZAR)
Shipping R199
VAT and AGS Clearance R 442.85
Total: R 3199.45

This is for an item that costs R4999 from the local authorised retailers and took exactly 2 weeks for the item to be received by me.

Not a bad first experience using AGS.

I have package I am waiting for in customs clearance status since 12/07. Apparently they are "Awaiting framing. "

Bought some stuff off Amazon last Sunday, arrived today 5 days later(it said it will arrive next week), I chose the normal shipping option, Came through globe flight though, Must say though, extremely quick deliveries, very impressed.

Weirdly though they didn't ship the whole order to me at once, The last item will apparently arrive in 2 weeks but I'm thinking next week.
