Does anyone know if AGS will ship engine oil bought from Amazon?
Their banned items list says no liquids but then on the specifc list it says flammable liquids are banned, maybe they do allow vehicle lubricants.

If AGS can't is there anyone else that can, Amazon won't ship the item to SA and the oil isn't imported into SA so local purchase is not possible.

Ubuy has it listed, seems they drop ship amazon stuff but it also seems they will list anything and everything from Amazon and then only after you have paid will they tell you it can't be shipped and then they appear to charge a handling fee of around R100...

So this looks pretty good. Nice and fast.

What is however is interesting, the Aramex app shows expected date a whole week from now.

@DeeinSouthAfrica 's explanation is spot on, this is the economy version of Aramex.

Also interesting, the Aramex app does work much better than the AGS/ShopnShip apps. I couldn't fix some details on my account, which the Aramex app was able to do. There are still things that needs to be done on the AGS website but I can live with that.

Haven't used Aramex since July bc of this. I'm a Flex member. The item is a secondhand game from Ebay, cost 173 randelas. Stuck in customs hell for three months now. Would have been faster to ship with SAPO. No joke.

Apparently customs keeps rejecting bank statements I've provided, but the Aramex clerk can't provide details relating to what exactly the problem is. Everything they've asked for is there. I've done this several times in the past, had no issues.

At this point I don't even care about the item, just wish they'd stop telling me that in 14 days it's going to a state warehouse and I'll be charged for it. It's been a lot more than 14 days chaps. :D

Yeah I have. I have no idea what their issue is.

Customs are really difficult with the importation of used goods, you need a permit for that.

Does it specify on the invoice that this is a used item ?

I have many times imported used goods from ebay...never had an issue. Which is why this one from the_imp_za is strange to me.

I have done from car xenon lights to wiring harnesses to led bulbs (for cars) and trim pieces. Never an issue.

Don't think you do. Pretty sure that's not a thing. I've brought in dozens of secondhand items from eBay, Alibaba ect for my personal use (and so have others in this thread) throughout the years. In fact, IIRC someone posted the legislation here, secondhand goods, like from eBay, are meant to be exempt from import duties. I may be remembering that wrong tho.

Anyway, invoices from Paypal / eBay don't say if something is new or secondhand.

I've brought it a lot of stuff as well, and this is the first time I'm experiencing this. Really have no idea what's going on, especially for an item that is way under R500 and shouldn't be detained in the first place. It's a very odd situation. and seeing as it takes a month for emails to go back and forth between Aramex, Customs and me, I'm not expecting a quick response.

I've even pointed out previous times that I've had items detained, and that similar documents were provided and accepted then, so the lack of consistency is strange. Also strange that no one can explain what exactly the issue is. Being told once again that the "submitted documents have been rejected by Customs, please provide thisandthis ect" is a bit weak after 3 months of waiting.

I think I may have an issue here So I ordered my stuff on Bangood sent to HK warehouse this first time it went well, but my issue now is that the current order even when it said it would be shipped from CN has now been shipped from Switzerland sooo yeah.

Now I don't know a lot about the imports and how it works from Switzerland to cn but I don't think i will ever get my package this way unless aramex pays for additional customs because it came from.

Of they go and send me a collection paper the received at the end of the day that would really not do me any good.

Any of you ever ran into this before?

I've got a parcel coming in from China and the tracking is RW************CH - so CH could also be China instead of Swiss

Ok so I'm new to this AGS (joined few months ago when membership was on special) and importing used goods from ebay for that matter. I am planning buying an iphone from the uk on ebay via paypal and the specific item does ship to SA via ebay international shipping. Looks like shipping will be about R370 at current exchange rate. So should I then rather use AGS as it seems seems their shipping will be closer to R200 according to weight charge?

And should I be worried about the permit / second hand thing?

Any advice will be appreciated.

Who you use to ship to SA is personal preference in m opinion.

As for the secondhand thing with permit, shouldn't be an issue if you take the regular route of taking a photo of your ebay order and upload to AGS. If however you create your own invoice, do not mark the item as secondhand, that is when you will need the permit. If you just mark it as whatever item it is, then it will be fine but you will pay the import tax as if it is a new item.

Ok so on amazon when an item ships to SA the full cost is shown on checkout (incl shipping and import duties)

How does ebay shipping work. The item I'm looking at that ships to SA shows GBP20 shipping charges. I assume this is shipping charges only without import duties? And is it express shipping comparable to amazon?

Also if the ebay item ships only to UK I guess I have to use AGS. How do I roughly calculate total cost - I know weight is the first calculation as shown on the AGS site but how to calculate import duty?

guys, I need you to help so my package of 30 USD was stopped over and inspected by customs and i had to pay an additional 160 for them to inspect it and they said that my goods were worth more but that is due to the fact i bought them on a massive clearance sale using super buy in china and they requested a proof of payment and a order form , so i gave a PayPal invoice as i used my balance on my PayPal and i provided order details and they both rejected as they said order details are not clear which they are and that i need to give a bank statement which i cant and I'm not going anywhere in this argument with them as they state i am not complying even though i have given everything possible ,what can i do cause its now been 2 months without my package and I've now paid more than twice the value of my goods for shipping and customs inspection.

This happens to me quite often.
I feel the R160 is a big scam as l only import boards and backlights for televisions, and you can see what they look like from an x-ray.
However, once an invoice has been sent, and the corresponding bank statement sent, all is well.

Why can't you get a bank statement? If that sounds suspicious to me, it sounds 10 times worse to a customs agent.

Agree.

They want to see how much you actually paid for it. Suspicious to say the least.
