Aramex global shopper

For some reason this store I am trying to purchase from, keeps changing the aramex NY address to something else. Comes across as a suggested address, but you have to choose it.

Store name if you don't mind me asking?

Hmm, not the same as Hobbyking's, where it kept recommending an address and I had to ignore it.

Yeah does not look good, wish there was a way to contact support without phoning as they always mess up email addys if you have to phone for clearance/issues related to customs

Two parcels from different parts of the USA arrived at the same time (with the exact same postman? ) at Springfield Gardens NY. Maybe if I'm really, really lucky someone there will sellotape them together.

Aramex pricing has gone haywire. The below are extracts from a letter I fired at [email protected]

Three shipments are all from the same supplier in Hong Kong. They all contain the exact same shipment – 4 x Samsung wireless chargers. No packing was added to the items and each box was the same.
If it is R175 for the first half kilo and R99 thereafter for each additional half-kilo, why was I charged an extra R99 each for Shipment number: xxxxx (0.50kg) and Shipment number: xxxxx (0.48 kg)?

To clarify -- shipment #1 was 0.48kg and was R175. That's okay.
Then shipment #2 was 0.50kg and was R274 and now shipment #3 is 0.48kg and is also R274.

:wtf:

Shipment 2 is also correct, for under 0.499kg you pay R175, if it is exactly 0.5kg or over you pay R175+R99.
So you must query the 3rd package as it is R99 too high.
Even if packaging or the box is the same there can be variances of around 50gram so try to use very light packaging boxes and let the shop weight the final parcel before they ship it to AGS.
I have found that if you order over 1kg parcels it works out cheaper to use Aramex directly than AGS but the retailer must support Aramex and have a deal with them to discount bulk shipping.

I'm guessing after taking 6 days and 4 phonecalls to clear from customs they decided take the scenic route, arrive late, packup and leave it in the van over the weekend.

Yep. They left early seeing as it's Friday. All's not lost though cos if you're really lucky they backed the van against the wall so noones can open them doors.

How could U determine import/customs cost for an amazon echo?

Amazon echo at $180 (R2500) and weighs 3 pounds ( 1.4kgs)

Or for amazon tap $115 (R1550) and 1.9 pounds (0.86kgs). Locally R3477.

And the Australian post office is still even better than every other courier I've ever used. Amazeballs. I had multiple packages shipped to my sister's address and they all cleared customs there within 2 hours of landing! Delivered for free to the door 2 days later (crossing 2 provinces from the airport), by a nice old guy in a roadworthy Australian Post van.

Why can't we have nice things that work properly.... (Rhetorical question for the ANC)

Thanks Dee. Used it before. They charge and I am not willing to pay the fees.

That calculator worked it out to R373 for duties...not sure if that is actually accurate. That was my 1 free lookup it seems.

Also looking at getting myself an echo soon.

Hmm, their site is definitely broken or their staff don't know how to update.

I have invoices for customs uploaded under the files section. Same with the endless departure parcel.

You think that is bad, check this. (ps. I haven't bothered to bother them with emails, just waited)

Funny, they uploaded documents saying customs is R118 but they haven't made it possible to pay that yet, not sure if this will come later or if it will just go by as is.

Was this Aramex Global Shopper? Did you ever get your goods? Will you use aramex again?

You'll be able to pay today, usually comes thru the day after it's cleared, luckily the package moves during that time so it isn't really a train smash. 7 working days from New York to on the way to you is hardly bad...

Correct, this was with AGS. Will use them again, they still better than SAPO, and IMHO better when shipping from the USA, even if NY hub is busy+slow. Not to mention, this package was only R100 shipping.

Ok thats good news :) Still getting used to AGS, was only my 2nd shipping with them, previous one was a bit faster actually.
