Aramex global shopper

I just love getting something in from China for ¥226.40 (R560) and getting charged customs duty of R1012.20.
I open the invoice attachment on the Aramex webpage and I see they have put the shipment through in USD. AGAIN.
99% of everything I import comes from China. I even add a Chinese flag to the invoice before I convert it to a pdf and upload it to Aramex. It helps, but there is always some overworked person who just doesn't bother looking.

@DeeinSouthAfrica: I needed your advice yesterday ...

I had to post an AA International Driving Permit to Japan and had planned to use the Royal Mail Service through PostNet but was told that this could take as long as three months to arrive. They offered me a DHL service for ~R700 which I thought was rather expensive so I ended up just mailing it from the SAPO which was probably a huge mistake in hindsight! Do you think that there is any chance that this letter will leave South Africa?

Any idea how much it would have cost to send a C6 sized envelope 16.2 X 11.4cm with a weight of 28g to Ebetsu/Sapporo (Postal Code 069-0851) in Japan using Aramex? I don't currently have an AGS membership.

Which sites do you buy from? Iv been trying to figure out a way to buy from sites that are mainly for China because they are even cheaper than the other sites ie AliExpress, Gearbest, Geekbuying etc. Was looking at JD.com because there prices are really good just cant quite figure out how to buy from there directly

Aramex Express have a service for non-account holders.
Use the Aramex app to calculate the shipping.
This is the red Aramex app, not Aramex Global Shopper.
Or calculate via the Aramex webpage (as this works better than the app): https://www.aramex.com/us/en/ship/check-shipping-rates
Then contact Rachel Madima - [email protected].
Give here all the information.
She will send you a payment link.

Many thanks for the information. I did already try that webpage but kept getting a message that cash rates are not yet available for shipping from SA to Japan so I have sent an e-mail to the person that you suggested.

... and this is the reply ... I am currently out of office and have no access to email. o_O

Will now try the e-mail contact address - [email protected] ...

I did hear back from Aramex regarding sending a small envelope to Japan. The total cost for sending a 30g 162X114 mm envelope would be R486-75 and I am not sure if there would be additional charges on delivery in Japan. Aramex appears to be a bit cheaper than DHL which was close to R700 for the same envelope but still really expensive to send a letter to Japan!

Any charges in Japan would be for the receiver. Its the same as us receiving something.
Make sure you make out an invoice for whatever is going, even if it is a gift and a zero balance. Print out 2 copies.
Write out the full address with phone numbers and attach to the envelope. This way you can easily refer to it when you have to write out the waybill the driver hands you.

@DeeinSouthAfrica: Many, many thanks for the help and advice. I will remember to print out two invoices with the address and contact number if I have to resend the document using Aramex to ensure delivery.

I am still hoping that the SAPO will forward the envelope that I posted on Wednesday to Japan. It is a very sad situation when the postal services in your country are so unreliable that you even have to send a letter overseas using a courier service!

So is Aramex always so slow to respond to queries? my item arrived at the hong kong branh almost 2 weeks ago, I uploaded the invoice but have not received any updates since and neither do they respond to any of my mails. Should i be worried

My Hong Kong stuff came through very fast. Wasn’t any batteries involved or anything difficult to assess though.

LG.com

Sorry... couldn’t resist. I think that’s why it’s difficult to bring in second hand phones and why not many people bother.

How old Is the MSDS? For some countries it expires after 3 years, other countries allow 5 years and there is no expiry date in the EU unless some changes have been made to the materials etc.
