"Cleared" customs again today - These people have no idea what they are doing. Already had the Code 1 release yesterday.

Any general indication as to how long AGS usually take to "notice" a package once it has been delivered to their address? Amazon (UK) has delivered a package to the London address, yesterday around 14:00, but AGS just says "You have no packages yet".

Question, for RMA / warranty replacements, paid nothing, when coming through customs what will they charge?

Shipment update: Code 4: Detained for OGA | MRN: JSA202209075056451

First time I am getting this :(

To facilitate release from customs control, but notify the
declarant that the goods in question are still subject to
intervention from a designated government agency

Note: Goods are released under the Customs Act, but will be physically re‐
leased by the government agency concerned.

Guess they just want to check out the hot sauce

Can AGS handle one time pins? Where do we send them to? For instance the UK hub? Edit: They can!!

Hi all, I'm using AGS to have a TV shipped to myself in Cape Town that I purchased from B and H Photo. First time using a service like AGS.

My experience so far as I'm currently in the early stages of the process:

Ordered and paid on the morning of Friday the 23rd September from B and H Photo website. Later that day they emailed me asking me for proof of Identity as the card used to pay was from outside the US. I sent the info they asked for early Saturday morning and the order was released and shipped on Sunday 25th.

It arrived at the AGS New York Depo at around 10am on the morning (New York time) of the 27th. Immediately after that I got an email from AGS stating they had received the package and it was now in my account. The rest of the day went by with no change. Wednesday then went by with no change.

By now I'm wondering if I should ask for an update on the status. Unfortunately its a large, fragile and expensive item and I'm impatient and I want to know that the process is moving along swiftly, so Thursday morning I sent a request through asking for an update. A few hours later I get a response from a lady saying that they require the sales invoice to be uploaded before the shipment can proceed. The ticket was also then closed by AGS. My issue with this is that I had no idea this was needed, and they never notify you that its on hold until you upload the document. Any way I uploaded it immediately. Nothing further happened that day and I'm keeping an eye on the status to see if anything happens today, but so far nothing yet as I realize there is a big time zone difference between SA and NY.

Am I being a bit over the top with my impatience? I decided that I would ask for another update on Monday if I have seen no change by then.

AGS is not the best with customer service and updates.
Its best to keep following up with them to expedite the process.
From now on you just have to wait it out until it is air freighted into the country.
Maybe another 2 or 3 days.

Keep in mind that once the item arrives in the country, you will be asked to pay the taxes(SARS Duties + VAT) and the AGS clearance fee

See attached - My personal experience.
Note: The item I purchased had no extra duties. I was however required to pay VAT

Hope this helps and is useful

Bought a musical instrument from a UK Ebay seller, was delivered to the London AGS office on 13 September, and had it in my hand the morning of the 21st, so just over a week. Very happy with the service and the updates, but maybe I just got lucky. Plus I also paid VAT only when my package was at customs, no duties on musical instruments. Think there definitely is on electronics though.

Thanks all for the feedback, much appreciated. I'm aware I'll be subject to VAT and duties which will likely be horrendous :(

No updates since my first post, I'm going to follow up on Monday.

Hi all, seems my package has been moving. I've been asked to pay customs fees and I've tried with 2 different cards but i keep getting a message that it failed and the money hasnt come off my account. Has anyone else had issues with making payment for customs? I had no issues making payment for the shipping fees.

So I am back...Didn't think I'll use them again but they are just much cheaper than anyone else (at least when I checked a few months ago).
I was wondering if anyone was successful in claiming a parcel without submitting a tax invoice?
I often order from overseas and I almost never have to submit it, most carriers are happy with the statement on the parcel, sometimes its a pain, trying to get an official invoice.

Last time I HAD to provide an invoice (2 years ago when I used Aramex) I just made my own

You may have to pay duty and VAT again. Maybe if you provide proof of payment and proof of paying the original tax.
