Aramex global shopper

Cheese and rice, you can moan....

If a company is able to email you an unencrypted password then you know there is trouble. Even if they say "Uh, we just emailed you what you entered and that's okay" it is not acceptable (I was already reluctant when the registration form had no SSL).

Since this is an IT forum, I am sure that most of you will understand the concept and importance of salted, encrypted and hashed passwords. Sending my password via email is the highly insecure and foolish. I will leave it at there. Will just be a matter of time until sites like PBC suffer a massive data-leak and then guys like you will cry if your credit card information or personal information has been leaked all over the internet.

Signed up with PBC and after seeing the activation email I asked them to close my account right away. Would not trust them with my money based on this: https://twitter.com/gerdnaschenweng/status/819227383496658948
My word . Don't these people live in our super-paranoid world?
At least send an email that requires you entering your ID to access, not one that can be accessed by anybody.

Lol, gets me thinking about Aramex Global Shopper. We may moan at their lack of emails, but compared to that, I would rather they continued to communicate everything via their webpage.
I sign in, and then I look for any new messages and service updates and then check on parcels. I email them through their webpage and they sometimes...rarely...maybe never reply through the webpage. :p
I finally phone them, moan mightily, and get good service.

meh all payments are done by paypal, whatever though, your loss TBH, I will enjoy my 2 - 3 day shipping from the usa with PBC, you can continue whining about AGS.

There was a time I nagged AGS daily, I have lots of correspondence with Mark and so on, just gave up though, they just can't get their act together, they were close at one stage, but with their staff turnover and lack of training, just broke down.

Lol if this forum has shown me anything, people don't give a ****. If you can enter a db and change the password yay!

Through perseverance and frequent moaning eventually their service will get better. While PBC and others might have better service I honestly need to look at the offering in it's entirety. While PBC is very good at logistics, whoever is doing their IT should really wake up and fix up security properly (and placing secure content in a "/secure/" folder is just not good enough). Just because you are paying with PayPal does not secure your data. I would comfortably say that any decent security researcher could compromise PBC's system within a day.

TBH: It would be very easy to change your system to implement proper password policies and encrypted storage. Most IT staff is just completely ignorant about it until a breach happens due to technical incompetence. Surprisingly, when I asked to have my account deleted due to password being in clear-text, no question was asked or concern expressed. I do agree, that their service is efficient - they deleted my account within the hour. I could not find any link or trace of SSL/HTTPS actually being run on that site.

I get my parcels with AGS within a week nowadays and this seems to have improved since I got them to load my ID-number into the system. Within the next month I will have my importers-code as well and then things should slightly improve.

I don't think so, I have corresponded with mark from AGS from 2013, I have had meetings at Linbro, been to their cage at the airport, been to their Linbro warehouse, so I doubt that, but whatever, they are cheap enough that if time is not a factor, then it isn't an issue. Most of my shipments are time sensitive, but if not, then yeah AGS offer good value.

Time is mostly never an issue (other than my poor level of patience). If I really need something urgently, I always managed to get it via expedited/overnight shipping within 48 hours - which comes at an insane cost, but then it is really a critical delivery. I agree, one should not need to complain and raise issues frequently and PBC does provide a superior South African service (let's be honest, the service they provide is standard with Deutsche Post in Europe) and PBC "only shines" because everyone else is just horrible in providing a basic service.

Our line of business works with courier companies daily and is shocking to see how backwards their IT is and this is also one of the reasons why there are so many issues.

Which is really what we gave been saying throughout this thread.
You want speed, use DHL/Fedex/UPS (but make sure the supplier invoice is not under-declared and matches the invoice you submit, as SARS are merciless and will fine you R2500 ((non-refundable)) as they did me).
You want speed at a cheaper rate, use MyUs or Postbox Courier. Post Office EMS is still good, but is not courier and must be fetched from a branch.
You want cheapest and don't mind waiting, use Aramex Global Shopper.
You a gambler, use the post office.

Hi.

Does anyone know how to dispute a customs charge. Customs charged me on the full price of the items and I didn't pay the full price as the items where on sale?

I have had luck with getting DHL to change the charges. Unfortunately I have to re-educate their staff for every parcel that comes in.

^^^ fixed this for you. My kid's birthday present his grandparents naively posted in September 2015 (they hoped it would take 4-8 weeks to arrive for his birthday) arrived in July 2016. We mostly use AGS as the SAPO replacement for not time-critical parcels. I tried MyUS before and the service was really not much better than AGS (granted it was several years back).

With my Amazon Prime membership I found that ordering via Amazon US/UK/DE I manage to nowadays get most of what I needed within days. While Amazon has higher shipping rates than AGS, with my Prime membership I often get deep discounts (ordered a FiftyThree which normally goes for >$45 with a discounted price of $25) which then offset shipping/import and are still substantially cheaper than local.

So My Xiaomi note 4 finally arrived at the Aramex wharehouse in Hong Kong. After Banggood sent it from Hong Kong to Germany and back to Hong Kong.

I have uploaded the invoice. Does anyone know how long it usually takes for the status to change. Because it still currently says "need invoice"

They can't transport that... Has batteries in it.

You always say that. I got AGS to deliver my iPhone from the UK no problem at all. I have just, this hour, ordered my 4th JBL Flip 3 bluetooth speaker. AGS has no problem them either.

The Flip 2 and 3 are tube-like in shape and can roll. If they are on charge at the time the USB port gets damaged. It's a bitch to repair and most people don't bother and sell them on eBay cheap. I buy them, fix them, and sell for just over a grand each.
Yes, they have built-in batteries. AGS still ship them to my door.

The NEED INVOICE will stay there until some person locally looks at your uploaded invoice. Sometimes that takes 2 days.
As for importing your phone - AGS do not accept BROKEN phones. They say nothing about intact ones.

Thanks. So I guess i'll just wait then

This is the worst part, the waiting. In my case it took AGS two weeks to move the iphone. Apparently my code wasn't very clear and although they knew I was in Cape Town they weren't too sure just who it was. When I started screaming at JHB they soon put 2 and 2 together and speedily dispatched it.
The sad thing was, when I finally received the phone it was activation locked, and the owner refused/couldn't unlock it. PayPal refunded my money but I was still out the postage so I decided to sell it for its screen. Two days later someone broke into my house and stole it.
All in all it was a very unlucky purchase from the get-go!!

How the heck to change your local delivery address?

You have to contact them, and tell them what to change it to. There is a link for that form on the website where you cant change all the details. I had to do this 2 times now already.
