Aramex global shopper

Contact Olivia[dot]Ndlovu[at]aramex.com. Also if you have those issue, could you perhaps just drop a comment on my blog-post, since their social media team is monitoring this.

When you contact Olivia, also ask her to load your ID number onto the system (this will avoid the issue that customs then goes back to Aramex or you to ask for your ID). What I nowadays do is that as soon as I upload the invoice, I sent them an email. If a shipment does not move status within 1-2 days, I also nag. Eventually they will get it right.
Olivia replied quite quickly and said she'll try to get it sorted. She also added my ID number to the system. .

Let's see what happens now

Stuff it. The company I am ordering from are prepared to ship directly to me including insurance for +/- R70 more.

Via this link - https://www.aramexglobalshopper.com/en/account/profile (you would then need to click on the "Unlock" link above)

BTW: Can anyone confirm the correct format of the mobile-number? I don't get any SMS and my number is configured as: 27####

Thanks, missed that unlock link. Why oh why would they force you to submit a support request to change your personal details?

My no. is set to "2784..." and I'm getting sms notifications. Must have been an issue on their side.

just make sure they not shipping with USPS or EMS, rather ARAMEX hassles than SAPO, whatever grief you have with Aramex it is minimal compared to SAPO.

EMS is okay, but God alone knows how they work out customs charges. EMS does not deliver to your door, you have to take all documents to the HUB if you want it fast (in my case, Cape Mail). If you want them to send on to your nearest post office , you have to email or fax invoice and wait another week.

Don't rely on regular post. Just don't do that.

nah, things work differently in joburg - EMS do deliver to door, that is when they decide to deliver and you not allowed in the hub anymore, they closed it to the public, stupid move, but they couldn't handle the volume of complaints and irritated people.
Last EMS parcel done by mistake in November, my mom chose USPS thinking it was UPS, took 5 weeks, we thought it lost cause we called and got through to ****po and they said nah no parcel and the next day the EMS car rocks up at the house, go figure.

They will send direct to my post office. Used them before. 4 days and I had my goods. Plus side is, if I use my UK Aramex address, I still need to pay the 20% UK VAT. On export orders they deduct the VAT. I will use Aramex, but only where the vendor is not prepared to ship to SA.

I just got an email saying my shipment has arrived. Status is now: "In Account". Still not able to pay for it yet it seems.

Local AGS may not be on the ball, but Shop and Ship New York sure are.
USPS tell me this: Out for Delivery 2017-01-17, 10:01:00, SpringfieldGardens, NY 11413

Shop and Ship (as Aramex Global Shopper) add this to my account, same day, and ask for invoice to be uploaded:
New York, United States 01/17/2017 15:30 PM Record Created

I have uploaded invoice. I wonder how long it will take to move to JHB?

Now it's in Transit. But they asking me to upload my invoice again

Remember the flow (I tried to depict this in my blog post: https://www.naschenweng.info/2017/0...-global-shopper-potential-horrible-service/):
- Parcel arrives at overseas AGS depot. They scan, take picture and then send a request to Johannesburg (First "Shipment on Hold" and "Record Created")
- The US AGS depot only works regular working hours - so if a parcel arrives on the weekend, they will cage it, but only upload/create the request to Jozi on Monday
- Jozi AGS only works weekdays from 8-5pm (in my opinion they only work from 9-4pm) ("Second shipment on hold")
- Once Jozi clicked a few buttons the request goes back to US and they load it onto a plane (sometimes this is within 24 hours, other times I have waited up to 3 days) "Departed Operations Facility - from overseas depot")
- You will then get the "Upload invoice request" and have to pay while the parcel is in transit.
- The "Upload invoice request" seems to happen often despite uploading the invoice before. There is some unexplainable delay and the system does not reflect that an invoice was uploaded.
- Once the shipment arrives there is a "black hole" and it is a mystery how it goes through customs. If the value is less than R500, the shipment goes straight through. If not, you will pay customs / VAT.
- I had cases where parcels below R500 were held for days in customs with a note "Awaiting customer instruction" - AGS needs to do something, but they never do
- Once custom has cleared (also remember, that they also do not work weekends or outside regular working hours) status changes to "Received at operations facility"
- Sometimes you get a "Shipment Update - shipment received in vc cage" this can either be at customs or at AGS facility - this applies to items with a value of more than R500.
- From the "Received at operations facility" status it will take max 2 business days for the parcel to arrive at your doorstep.
- Sometimes you will have a status "Shipment Update - shipment sent to desptach floor in vc cage" (yes, they don't fix their spelling mistakes) which means that it is at AGS in Linbro Park and the parcel would be delivered within 24 hours.

I get that customs clearance is inefficient, but there is no real excuse for AGS to do such a horrible job. If it was not for Olivia escalating, none of my 6 parcels processed over the last 2 weeks would have been properly processed.

Wow thanks for the detailed response. Clears up quite a few things. My status has changed to "held in Customs" and awaiting customer Interaction. So i guess i keep on waiting then.

FWIW: A parcel delivered to the US depot on 9th January arrived today (19th). Although 11 days sounds reasonable fast, they could have done it quicker if:
- they did not delay loading the item on the plane until the 11th.
- when it arrived on the 12th, customs was waiting for feedback from them which they only gave late on 13th and was cleared
- despite it arriving at their operations facility on 14th (Saturday) it was sitting at their facilities for 3 days (Mon, Tues, Wed)
- it was only moved to the vc cage this morning and then went out for delivery at 7am and was delivered at 12pm.

Good Day

I have tried to scan through the different pages on here and i'm still not clued up. I used aramex to ship something locally and it was fast and smooth. Now i want to get a product from amazon and have it shipped here. Is FNB still the best folks to sign up with for this. How long or rather how many days will a simple product like a cellphone cover take to import to SA. How are their prices to ship locally and what documents if any are required or what is the process.

If the above questions have been answered I apologize for repeating them and can one kindly direct me to the page or post that mentions the above.

Thanks

I described the AGS process on my blog, but if you can use FNB, sign-up with them as your life-time membership fee will be low and you will get a discount per shipment (I think this is still R70 off shipping?). Once your shipment from Amazon reaches the US depot it can take up to 10 business days for the parcel to be delivered to you. Shipping fees are R195 for first 1/2kg and I think it was R90 for subsequent 1/2kgs. You will then also pay 14% VAT and any applicable customs.

Wow. What a process. I was excited about the service but now I'm not so sure.

Don't worry - if if you have patience you will just order and pay twice and eventually after 8-10 days the parcel will be there.

I must say its quite a pleasure not working with AGS - had a parcel leave Hong Kong Wednesday, just received from DHL, including a 4 hour delay for customs clearing on a high value parcel.
If I had shipped to AGS Hong Kong it would still be sitting there probably saying waiting for invoice:erm:

Yeah but postbox courier wanted R600 for the same parcel that aramex charged me R120 for. No thanks I'll wait
