Aramex global shopper

Was the delivery issues a case of miscommunication to you about delivery dates and times or something different?
It was something different, last time they didn't deliver, it was apparently placed on the wrong route, how that happens, I don't know. Haven't been able to get a reason out of them today why it wasn't delivered, it's out for delivery again now, hopefully third time lucky.

Indeed. On mine they say they can't find the place every time. Miraculously they find it when I start mailing / posting on their Facebook page.

Yeah, this is the second time in two weeks they need to deliver something to my place, last time they found it without issues. I guess, let's blame all the rain we've been having the last two days...

Aramex don't use volumetric. They calculate by weight. That is why they have a weight calculater on their home page, so you can work out how much you are going to pay for the shipping charges.
If there is a weight dispute phone them and ask for parcel to be re-weighed in JHB.[/I]

How sure are you about this part?

The way I understand it (may be wrong), is that the airlines charge them by either volumetric or physical weight, whichever is biggest, and they pass this cost onto us - they can't decide to just not use volumetric. Imagine someone shipping 30KG of polystyrene in a box, it would be pretty huge.

But if I'm wrong, please tell me, because that would be a pleasant surprise. :)

Only thing I can think of why it'd be that much, is if they do indeed use volumetric weight, and the sender put it in an unnecessarily big box.

I think you are correct.

I have now developed the habit of emailing Olivia each time. It seems she gets things done promptly and always includes or redirects to the correct channel/person.

Seemed to have worked now, but I didn't select "Remember Password" this time - which is pointless anyway, because it never does.

Maybe coincidence, I dunno.

Same here. Anyway. Logged in and paid.

Package from Canada made a turn in the UK and the US one left yesterday. I figure...they'll only be here on the weekend. Then coin flip on customs clearance.

I've had 2 packages delivered from NY to Cape Town now.

1st package - 19 days
2nd package - 13 days

It seems that you save a lot of time if the package arrives in JHB at the start of the week. That way you don't lose the weekend when they aren't working.

My first package took 20 days. The second one is still on route but moving a lot quicker through the departments.

1 week since package collection in Canada and it has landed in JHb yesterday.

Pretty happy with that. Now to get cleared and come to CT.

I ordered parts for my Bluetooth device. Only one replacement speaker arrived, the supplier says he shipped both. Parcel was opened by SAPS ORS ORTIA CARGO. Matbe this missing speaker dropped to the floor. It's small, 48mm in diameter. Anyhow I have emailed Olivia and asked her to look for it.

Hmm. My second parcel doesn't seem to have gone through customs at all.

That will happen after.

EDIT: Sorry, didn't see it already left Joburg.

Was the value very small?

You sure? My previous parcel.

Look at the order of the process

And it seems they on the ball today. After making payment 4 min later it got logged.

Edit

Value was 2 items at 36$. Funny though, my previous parcel was an external voltage regulator for 45$ and I had to pay R282 for custom and duties. Hmm

Well that's why I edited.

I had a shipment of 27 Euro before and it never even mentioned customs. I think the threshold is R500-600.

I put in my second order through Aramex today,
hope someone is there to receive on the weekend.

Do they save your ID number after the first time?
That should hopefully help speed things along at customs.
