Aramex global shopper

This is why you follow up with Aramex.

Uploaded my invoices on two packages, but when they checked this morning my packages were still in holding on the other side with no allocation or acknowledgement of invoice received.

They updated the status on this side and flagged both parcels for transfer to SA.

Very true. But in the case of Aramex(and many other SA companies), this isn't the case.

You know that there is something fundamentally wrong in your business / IT, if you have to hire extra staff to tell your NY depot that an invoice was uploaded.

Why do people have so much trouble with uploading invoices?
Ask the sellers you buy from to stick an invoice to the outside of your packages.
It will help a lot with shipping time.
No need to upload invoices then.

First time I've tried it this way. I didn't expect them to be so useless over there as well - how should I have known beforehand? Also, the problem in the end wasn't the speed, but rather their system having so many gaps in the process - no confirmation at all of the invoice actually being received.

Does that work for you ?

I had about 5 packages from China in the past where the invoice was attached to the parcel in a plastic sleeve on the outside.
Never had to upload a invoice and shipping was fast.
But in some countries AGS staff can perhaps not do their work properly and it might not help.

I think the invoice is checked manually as well. No auto check and confirm. This might be due to fraudulent documentation etc.

Just a guess on my part as I cannot see any other reason why this is not automated.

It doesn't need to be automated - all I want is some form of acknowledgement that it's received and in good order. That can be built into the system as well.

In that case they can automate the part that says:
1. Invoice uploaded
2a. Invoice confirmed good
or
2b. Invoice need to be actioned by customer for whatever reason

I think the biggest gripe most people have, is the communication is just plain bad. More timeous communication is always better. Especially, if it can prevent unnecessary contacts to the call-centre.

No argument here!

I'm a bit miffed with the actual delivery part. It's the second time now that they have problems delivering my parcel to me. Yesterday my parcel was out for delivery, and then it got rescheduled to today, and now the same again. Last time it took them four tries, and only after a call did they do it right, claiming there was a problem on their end.

For the parcel to get from New York to here, it took quite quickly, so I can't complain about that part. It was received in New York last week Wednesday afternoon, and it cleared customs this end on Saturday, so that's about 3 days for it to go from New York, to here, and through customs. Now if only they could figure out where to deliver the parcel to, it's not as if it's the first, or even second time.

Was the delivery issues a case of miscommunication to you about delivery dates and times or something different?

Package on its way to SA since 5PM yesterday. Now just 3 weeks to wait for it to travel 50KM from OR Tambo to their offices to my home - probably numerous times, as I'll undoubtedly get "Unable to deliver" notifications again.

I have never had an "unable to deliver".
On the other hand they know I work from home, and am on a main road. I guess if you are tucked away it is harder for the driver to find!
AFAIK the Aramex drivers are owner drivers, sub-contracted to Aramex. My next door neighbour spoke to the driver that delivered my parcel recently, (neighbour was looking for work), and was told that they are independent. This would mean that it is in their own best interests to get your parcel to you as soon as they can - or the work snowballs and they look bad.

Good for you. Total opposite of my experiences, though.

I moved from a PO Box account to Postnet account and one of the added benefits is you can have parcels delivered to the physical branch address instead of your home and collect it from there at your convenience. Might be a solution to some struggling with getting delivery timings right.

My timings aren't the problem - they just never arrive.
