Aramex global shopper

I am sure others got the mail too.

If anyone not with FNB still looking for free membership signup with AGS:

Code to join free: 4l93im2
Offer valid until 31st May, 2017

I do get something out of it, if at least 5 people sign up with the code, so thats the T&Cs with the code.

Just made a post in O/T regarding this. Got a paypal thing where I can get a lifetime membership for $1. But your code is free

Anyway, is it worthwhile using them for shipping?

So my current parcel is "Held in Customs - Awaiting Customer Instructions" Any idea what this means and what I must do?

I've emailed Aramex, but they typically take long to respond so I just want to find out from those who have had this before what this is and what to do? Thx

Mail Olivia. She normally responds relatively quickly.

Ok, thanks :)

Vusi replied (and quickly too!) and says there is nothing I need to do, it's just going through customs clearance. Just a bit weird because I've never had this message before. This parcel is however taking longer than usual.

Has anyone ordered from Massdrop and shipped using Aramex? What difference would it be If I submitted the receipt compared to an invoice? Since massdrop are only providing receipts...

My parcel cleared customs quickly last week. I didn't get a receipt or invoice and I used the Aramex generic one.

I also have this delay in customs clearance - on an item worth $27. Olivia says the emails are automatic and the parcel is scheduled for a low value release by customs today. I hope she is correct!

Mine's also low value ($17).

Can someone post / link to this generic invoice template please. I'd like to use it for future shipments.

Just signed up with Aramax using the $1 Paypal deal. I'm looking to import a motherboard. What sort of tax should I expect?

R1841 + R305 Aramax shipping + Import tax, which hopefully is cheaper than this at R3000 with AMZN shipping + import tax.
Just almost-complete the sale on Amazon. They give a breakdown of amount and duties before you give your card details.
Also check eBay and Aliexpress, as sometimes it is cheaper to order from other sources. Then duty is usually 15% plus vat.

Thanks for the tips about Ali and eBay.

I can't check on AMZN as the MSI board I want doesn't ship to SA. The equivalent Supermicro board does, but has a $40 higher base cost + AMZN shipping / import tax. Which was why I was wondering about the import tax, because if the MSI board ends up being in range of the Supermicro one after Aramax shipping and tax, I might as well just grab the Supermicro from Amazon.

In my opinion, as Motherboards aren't made here they should fall in the laptop category and not have duty levied at all.
However. This is SARS. Nuff sed.

Use the free one rather.

That said, they are worth it in my opinion. Not as great as Fedex ect, as in they slightly slower, but you pay far less, so its a much cheaper service. Still miles better than SAPO.

Massdrop suck. Anyone, by any small, chance know Massdrop's physical address? They don't include it on their "Receipt".

So I just got an email from AGS stating that "All duties and taxes are now due."
I say WTF as the parcel is $27 (R357.20 ZAR).
Truz Bob, they have charged me R139.74 duty.
Just spat an email at Olivia.

Her reply:
Afternoon Denise

Please note that your shipment went through Formal Clearance as requested by Customs, even though it is a Low value shipment. We cannot always guarantee that your shipment will be added to a Low Value Manifest, and that is at Customs discretion.

Kindly find the attached detailing as to how your charges were calculated.

Let me know if you have any further questions, and I will try assist.

Kind Regards
Olivia-Kourtney Ndlovu

Eish, I might have to cough up as well. Maybe SARS is busy with a fundraiser.

If I may ask what was the contents / classification of the parcel?
