And yet...nothing goes missing. Unlike the post office. Last year I had a trackable parcel reach Johannesburg. It said incomming international, and then was scanned in JHB and then... poof. No other tracking details. I entered the number and it said no results found (the page actually said error or some gibberish in red writing). To this day, I have never received anything.
Luckily I could open a dispute with Aliexpress and get my money back, but still...most annoying.
So yeah, AGS may take long, and your parcel has to wait for an available flight that is not full of Aramex Express items, but you always get your parcel in the end.
 
Yes, that's true. Who else would ship a Sennheiser headset from the US to CPT for R225? :D

That's how I signed up last year and saved on shipping costs :)

Has anyone else noticed that the shipping discount has only been +-R74.xx ? Not going to complain about a few cents, just find it curious.

That said, they are worth it in my opinion. Not as great as Fedex ect, as in they slightly slower, but you pay far less, so its a much cheaper service. Still miles better than SAPO.

I'm wanting to import a cell phone from UK. Would you guys recommend aramex global shopper, Postbox Courier or some other service?

postbox courier without a doubt - their shipping from the uk is fairly cheap and it will be here and cleared and in your hands in the same time aramex will probably have you upload the invoice for the 20th time, or not login your parcel for 3 days or take 10 days to clear or whatever.

Dammit! One thing we can say about Shop and Ship New York - at least they work Saturdays!

This is one of 6 parcels heading to PBC NY to be sent group ship to me in Cape Town. They are all small items, phone covers etc, that would work out exorbitantly expensive to send out here one by one at R195 a pop using AGS.

Not that i'm neglecting AGS - my sole UK order is being sent to AGS in Slough as it works out cheaper than one item through PBC.

All shipments should be pre cleared, thats how DHL usually get it done, so by the time it lands, it's all clear and gets delivered without delay.

Mean time almost a week later and parcel just sitting at one of their depots, at least it finally got logged in...now to wait until it ships and then clears another who knows how long of waiting, sigh.

It should do. On the AGS list of prohibited items it only says they won't transport broken phones, which is difficult to prove either (unless the screen is completely smashed).
Unfortunately duty on your phone is going to be about 20% + Vat.

Physically small yes (under 2 lbs). But not in value -its the sennheiser headset.

I'm glad to see AGS pre-clearing shipments (first time I see it happening).

I have never tried Borderlinx. When I looked at them a year ago I think that you could not use them if you were located in Africa.
Anyhow, this is what Borderlinx say when it comes to prohibited items:
CAN be shipped
LITHIUM-ION BATTERIES WITH EQUIPMENT
Laptop with battery outside of laptop CAN ship, as long as battery is under 100 Wh and packaged with equipment (same box, inside of another box).
Camera & camera battery CAN ship.
Per NEW regulations only 1 battery per shipment with equipment.
Must be sent in box, no longer shipped inside of padded pouch or poly bag.
LITHIUM-ION INSIDE EQUIPMENT Regulations have not changed for iPhone, iPad, Kindle, Nook, etc.

Funny because when I phoned AGS they out right said "No, they will not ship phones."

Also from what I can see cellphones are Duty free, and only have to pay VAT.
