Aramex global shopper

Sorry the email I gave you didn't help. I guess they only do the basics well, but when there's a ****up you can't get anywhere with them.

It did help, Lunga pushed Vusi to actually get the risk manager involved, unfortunately Lunga is away on training this week according to his out of office. I was a bit firmer this morning when I got Vusi on the phone so maybe someone will jump now.

I have a 4lb shipment heading to the NY branch and it should be there by Friday.

How long after that will I receive it here in SA? A week max?

I'll let you know, I've got one on the way from the states that left on Monday, it's in Dubai atm.

Anyone know how I can get a pre-quote for the following dimensions - obviously don't wanna ship it and then shipping costs more than the actual item.

Location is Italy.

Dimensions: 42.50cm x 28.00cm x 41.00cm
Weight: 9.13kg

Is there a way I can get a quote? Can't find anything myself thus far.

They only use weight as far as I know. But you can log in on your user profile, and type in the values there on the right.
Under "rate calculator"

Couriering something to SA aint cheap unfortunately.

Best to buy the heavy stuff within SA. Small things that is not available in SA you can import.

What I'm buying isn't sold here at all though. And it's second hand already, and discontinued by the manufacturer. This is my only option, and definitely cheaper.

Used that to sign up for free, and on my 1st item shipping, still waiting for it, but it only started on Monday.

Depends from where. Generally 2+ months.

My case was from Saudi Arabia to South Africa

I used them now for the 1st time ever, and must say I am happy with the whole process. Lightyears better than the post office.

1) Took ever so slightly less than 2 weeks, including the free USPS shipping within the US, from west coast to NY, which was only 2-3 days.
2) The eBay seller I bought from, didn't have SA shipping, and the other more expensive seller, had UPS shipping only, at $42 which is a bit more than I paid in total, and that $42 wouldn't include customers at all. So I think the AGS price is excellent.
3) They dealt with the customs part, which I don't despise, but I don't love them either. They sent me an email, did the payment, next day it was done. So great.
4) While you have to upload the invoice for customs, they also attach all the custom documents after the fact so that you can see what customs did, pretty cool
5) They upload a picture of the item as the received it, pretty cool.
6) Overall great experience. I will use them again, but for the dirt cheap stuff from AlieXpress, SAPO it is.

Attached is the images of the total cost (I can still use the FNB discount for shipping), and the delivery log for those interest.

Tracking history:

The last entry is missing, but I received the item at 9:50am, slightly over an hour later after they went out to deliver it at 8:35am. It could have been here earlier, but thats when the reception lady dropped it off at my desk.

Lol, I once tried to get a Chinese merchant on Aliexpress to send to the AGS USA address. It caused all sorts of mayhem that side as they can see you are from RSA.
I finally got the same thing Through Ebay (albeit slightly more expensive) and had it sent via NY.

I can confirm that the R75 shipping discount still works. :)

How long does it usually take from when USPS delivers the parcel to the Aramex depot in NY to when it shows up on your Aramex account online?

I see a lot of Hellopeter complaints about Aramex and their service... will just have to wait and see if my parcel gets here.

Getting it to SA is quick, getting it through customs however is a whole other story. Lately, at least for me, my parcels have been getting stuck in customs for days on end. One of my last parcels got stuck in customs as per the following...

...but managed to miraculously clear very quickly after I sent an email asking why it was taking so long. Now the same thing has happened with yet another parcel, but I won't send an email this time. Instead I want to bide my time and see how long they take to clear it without any prompting from me. So far I'm up to 7 days waiting for clearance:
