Depends on how many items you order during a year.

It looks like they adding new features to Flex though.
Initially it had 1 benefit, which is the weight pricing was on 100g increments instead of 500g increments without flex.
Now you also get 20% discount when item is over 3KG, and they also now allow you to combine packages to save on shipping.

So as they add more benefits, it may become worthwhile imo.

The combined shipping is great. I wait until I have a couple of orders and then order everything at once, hoping the parcels will arrive at the origin address at the same time. Most times it works.
The origin then weigh all the parcels together and you save on shipping.
Flex is also quicker. It usually takes less than 2 weeks from order to delivery if no customs involved.
 
How are parcels handled over the weekend when the NY depot is closed? I had one delivered saturday morning but no email from global shopper. Anybody experienced this before?

It happens all the time. The USPS tracking will say something like "attempted delivery, nobody home so pickup".
The following Monday someone in NY origin sends the tea-boy to fetch the parcel, and you see it reflected on your Aramex web page Monday evening.

Also, sometimes USPS delivers the parcel, NY still takes a day or 2 before it shows in your AGS account. Had item delivered on Thursday at NY. It only showed up later on Friday. But its already in JHB on Sunday. Now the customs wait for me /sigh

Trying China on Aliexpress is erm a miss...

The drop downs _only_ have the province/city in Chinese. Figured out the top most entry for both is Shanghai, so thats easy, but now I have this english test on the form that prevents one from submitting :(

How do you use it? Checked out their site and cant make out head or tails with all those Japernees or Chinese or whatever on the site.

A lot of information was posted from post #2033 onwards, and is always worth reading again.

The address was not 100% correct back then, and a photo has been added to this post.

You will need to switch back and forth between the translated page and original Chinese page and copy into a notepad the Chinese characters (streets, buildings, roads, areas, cities etc) of the various parts of the form.

Drop down menus will mostly not work in the English translated versions of the page.

Your final result for the 'detailed address' should match the Chinese Character address.

After that, you will need to translate your name (if possible) into Chinese with your AGS account at the end of the 'consignee name' section.

One thing I must mention - download the Taobao app and the Alipay app. Yes, it is 100% Chinese and there is no English translation, but I found out that it is essential. Most Chinese do not have internet, and all communication is through the Taobao message portal. The seller will ask you to confirmthe Shanghai address, or inform you they have no stock. If you don't have the app you won't know why something hasn't been shipped.

If you don't have a smartphone, you can also go to Taobao on your Chrome browser and right click the "Contact:" section to the right of the item you intend buying. The contact section is hyperlinked. Open it in a new tab and you will be prompted to download the AliM protocol message system. You can use this (and Google translate ) to converse with your Chinese seller.

Note that the Chinese address is backwards. It starts with Shanghai and works back to Unit 1.

So I did a test for those that was unsure including myself.

So I always see on Aliexpress people buying from mainly Russia and Spain so I wanted to test how to get an aliexpress parcel delivered to an AGS location. With most airmail parcels they usually need to be collected from a post office.

So I loaded the AGS Spain location on aliexpress and and bought 2 items which also includes free aliexpress super saver shipping to Spain which promises delivery within 2 weeks. Okay so let me buy it and test.

Today is officially 2 weeks and I just got an email from AGS saying my parcel has arrived at the Spain address and I can now view shipping options on the AGS website.

So for those that was unsure if you ship aliexpress items with airmail to Spain AGS it takes about 2 weeks then it's at AGS in Spain ready for courier to South Africa.

I thought about this but what about the customs duty that may be liable for import into Spain.

That is what I was thinking but my $20 items passed through customs in 2min because from item in customs to item cleared customs it was like 2 mins acording to the tracking info.
 
SO when do you actually pay for the shipment? I got an email today saying they received the parcel and it's actual weight is 0.1kg. A few minutes ago I got a email saying my parcel is on the way and that I should upload an invoice so long on the website. There is no payment option?
