Are you broke?... I'm asking this question because in 2007 January i was so broke that when i used R50 it mattered, the Jan month felt like it was two months.:D So i would just like to know from myBB who is broke because of December and who is not? :)

i am fairly broke myself and I am just taking it one day at a time, trying to get rid of debt and its hurting real bad but you gotta remember that no matter how bad it gets you some how get through, hopefully

I am broke.

I owe SARS R30 000, clients are not paying and so I cannot pay the taxman. Catch 22.

well my families getting broke. my dad's on the verge of bankruptcy :(. the reason being that the insurance companies just aint paying him(he's a loss adjuster). but I'm hoping this year is better for South Africa ha ha

shame blu tell me about it.

I'm owed over R15k by some insurance company for work we did for them... they need to pay or else I'm in the same situation as you on the business front:mad:

Not broke. I'm so optimistic that I'm going to buy a new motorcycle helmet and jacket with the money leftover end Jan. Perhaps decent touring boots too.
And no, I didn't get a 13th cheque or bonus.

I forgot to ask in my post:
In terms of your relationship with your family/SO, does being broke (or having financial troubles) bring you closer to each other or does it cause more problems?

It's been proven that when men are stressed (in this case due to being broke), they can't perform sexually. So NO, it doesn't really bring you "closer". For women it's the other way around - I think.

I think it depends on the person rather than the gender, actually.

Some people are stubborn and will insist on a certain standard of life whether it is affordable or not. Others will happily eat dry bread to keep the wolves from the door.

Saved up some money last year for December vacation, had some left so I bought myself a nice LCD TV.

Yip, flat broke, but only because most of my money is in the missus bank. So we will not starve. Still can go out and enjoy ourself's. Just not over do it.

I'll be living of bread and milk and pasta for the rest of the month..... :( went way overboard on a gift for the BF and i didn't get my bonus as i had hoped. I actually would'nt have had a problem if the electrical wires in my flat didnt get fried by a short and tripped the power. Wasn't home for over 2 weeks and the fridge defrosted and everything "muffed" real nice.

I have started this year with way more cash in the bank than I have ever had at the beginning of a year. Thanks to all the infrastructure projects on the go like airports etc I have never had it so good.

However I do know that my industry goes thru peaks and troughs like most do so Im making lots of hay while the sun is shining.

I went cheapskate for christmas, family did the same as January is always the worse. Financially, I'm fine, my parents are still struggling, so I'm helping out there where I can
