And if we wait for the government to set up a commission investigate and misappropriate the funds that were suppose to protect the substations all will have been raided.

Agreed, the security companies can only do so much and they are not getting paid for it either so why risk your life.

Something needs to be done asap. What I find strage is that there is no newspaper report on any of the attacks, this is not normal these attacks seem well planned and they are out to destroy the infrastructure.

They have just repaired the brakfontein sub but how long before they steal the cables and vandalise it again?
 
Also Find it Strange that nothing is in the papers. I mean Oscar is so last year :D

I have posted in many facebook groups asking residents to send messages to the ANC mayor requesting that something be done ASAP, I am however only 1 citizen and can only do so much.
 
SABOTAGE BEHIND PRETORIA BLACKOUT

Electricity blackouts in Centurion, south of Pretoria, were caused by saboteurs, Tshwane mayor Kgosientso Ramokgopa said on Wednesday.

"We think that this amounts to sabotage, just to undermine the economy of the capital city and the nation in general," he told reporters in Pretoria.

"We have escalated the matter to various law enforcement agencies at a national level. There must be some degree of intelligence gathering capacity to help us resolve this problem."

Large parts of Centurion were without electricity since early Sunday morning due to vandalism and theft of cables at Pretoria's Brakfontein and Kentron sub-stations.

The areas affected included Centurion CBD, Swartkop, Highveld, Ecopark, Brakfontein, Rooihuiskraal, Amberfield, the Reeds, Noordwes, Thatchfield, and Wierda Park.

Ramokgopa said the city had two major power failures affecting Centurion.

Electricity was restored to some areas on Tuesday night but others would be in the dark until Friday.

"Regarding the loss on those two power stations, the losses are around R8 million. This is the extent of the inconvenience that our people are going to experience," said Ramokgopa.

Since April, there had been more than 450 incidents of cable theft and tampering with electricity sub-stations which cost the city an additional R20m.

"There was another attempt this morning to undermine the electricity supply by tampering with our sub-station in Lyttelton. A similar incident also happened in Atteridgeville," he said.

The Kentron sub-station erupted into flames on Monday due to the vandalism and theft of accessories.

Sub station erupted into flames???? This happens when no maintenance is done. Who knows the truth? ANC BS or not.
 
Our good for nothing army needs to be deployed to guard these substations. Apparently the " security guard" at the Brakfontein sub has only a knobkerrie and not even a radio ! High probability that these guards are even part of the syndicates.
 
The conspiracy theorist in me thinks Eskom is paying people to sabotage these power stations. They let the municipalities take the blame for power cuts and the repair costs.

This way they don't have to implement load shedding and don't suffer any reputational damage.
