From the defence side:
1. The dead guy says he was paid, but he doesn't pinpoint Dewani as the one who paid him, rather there was a middle man in Tonga. So only Tonga can directly link Dewani to the crime, and Tonga was a very bad witness.
2. He also paid the staff in the hotel, and he allegedly also paid the police officer who testified. So Dewani paid a lot of people, which absolutely helped his case since not all the people he paid were implicated in the case.
3. The shooters wanted to rape the wife, which is why they let Dewani go.
4. There was a struggle between the shooter and Anni which led to the shooting.
