Article: Eat dairy with caution: Noakes

Why not just say that starvation will guarantee weightloss?

You miss the whole point if you think that there has to be pain. There doesn't. You can lose weight by change of diet alone. Yes, if you are trying to increase the rate at which you lose exercise will help. But if you continue seeing weight control as only being possible through pain, well, who would change their lifestyle for that?

No one, which is why Noakes diet is so popular...

I should write a book that you can eat and drink whatever you like and will lose weight but it will only be one line. Burn more calories than you consume and you will lose weight, the end.

Amen to that.Simply math.

Unfortunately this isn't so... Think of eating say 100 calories of almonds vs 100 calories of coke. The almonds have lots of fibre which the coke doesn't. So all that happens is that the coke causes your body to produce more insulin which converts it all to fat. Whereas the almonds allow your body to digest a lot quicker and faster, leading to lower insulin levels and so less fat storage. Not all calories are equal!

Edit: As an aside, everyone should watch Fed Up. Really good movie about the sugar/obesity epidemic in the US.

All kilojoule restrictions do is give you an indication of how much you should eat.
If you choose to only eat junk, then you will obviously battle.
Same with Banting, if you only ate butter, you would not be very healthy now would you.

Fortunately Banting is not about calorie counting, then.

I was talking about eating a balanced diet.

And you can do Banting within kilojoule counting, it ends up being a kilojoule controlled diet anyway

Work out your own BMR, take into account your exercise level, adjust energy intake to slighty less over a long period (no need for pain) and have a balanced diet:
Carbs: 20-70%
Protein: 10-50%
Fat: 20-70%

And don't forget, 1 gram of alcohol has almost the same amount of energy as 1 gram of fat.

Except this has never worked for me or many other forum members. Cutting out carbs has.

To 0%? Or closer to 20%?
The only reaon it did not work is because you ingested more than you needed.

Sure, that's the reason. And if you're eating 70% carbs you're on a one way ticket to Diebeatusville.

Not everyday. Each day is different. Some days 20%, some days 70%. And if you want to cut it, maybe 50% max on any given day with other days being less. Point being, balanced moderation and adjust within these parameters. Also, low GI carbs should be preferable.

OK, what you're saying no longer makes any sense, so I'm just going to leave it there.
