Article: Race matters: DA

It seems that the DA has spent so much time trying to put focus upon the wrongdoings of the ANC, that they forgot to form a cohesive party policy to actually campaign with.

This has always been their problem. In fact their election campaign slogan used to be "Stop the ANC".

DA Parliamentarians: "Race is a legitimate criteria for redress".
Zille: "Hey who told you to pass that motion?? That's Verwoerdean!"
Zille after conference: "Race is a legitimate criteria for redress after all"
Verligte DA supporters: ":)"
Verkrampte DA supporters: ""
General public: ":wtf:"

I don't see the contradiction between the DA Parliamentarians and Zille?

Where did you discover this easy to paste extraction online?

Especially using two non-English words there...

Yes, because of the way it was structured.. but they don't disagree with the concept..

Zille condemned the DA's approval of the EEAB in parliament, that was before the federal conference.

Yes she did. And there is still no contradiction.
The DA support race based AA and BEE. They believe their implementation is however better than the ANC's (They believe it will work better), so voting in favour of the ANC's bill was a mistake.

Yes to address past injustices we need more of it. There will never be an acceptable 'non racial' society in the minds of a luberal. They still push this race crap everywhere one just needs to look at 1st world countries like the U.S and U.K....

No party that advocates racial discrimination will get my vote. Simple

So ACDP for you then?

Cape Town - DA parliamentary leader Lindiwe Mazibuko “got it completely wrong” with regards to the party’s stance on economic equality legislation, says party leader Helen Zille.

Zille described the public policy spat a “plane crash”.

Zille, speaking at the Cape Town Press Club on Thursday, said: “There was absolutely no excuse for the DA supporting Verwoerdian measures like that.” This was why the party needed to reject the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) Bill and the Employment Equity Amendment Bill.

The DA this week tried unsuccessfully to effect amendments to the Employment Equity Bill in a National Council of Provinces (NCOP) committee and save face after it voted for it in the National Assembly only to see MPs rebuked by Zille.
No contradiction whatsoever.

Once again, no. Where do you see the contradiction?
Mazibuko should not have voted for the bill. Not because the DA does not support BEE or AA, but because they believe their version will be far more effective

What you are failing to see is that there are many DA supporters who don't want race to be used as a criteria full stop. They don't want a "better version" of race based policies.

True. And as Zille said yesterday, for those that don't like it, there are many other political parties

The DA has somewhat become a party in turmoil. They no longer appear to have any solid stands on a number of subjects. The party appears to consist of a number of people who each has their own viewpoints or opinions. There appears to be no proper control or leadership at the moment.

Over and above this, we are approaching election time. Now the DA needs to satisfy a number of different races in order to get votes, so this game of balancing will get out of line at some time for them.

So, whatever the DA says I take up with a pinch of salt at this time.

Leaving election short-sighted moves, there are some changes in the society, leaders seem to not recognise:
As white people has abandoned appartheid rules, it must happen something similiar. If it is true that black people are not inferior to whites or coloured, so why the "born free" constantly need peferencial system to stay competetive on the market? I think nobody feels comfortable with racist preferential system and it will be rejected by the people who benefit from it.

Not being given anywhere close to equal opportunities for decades is not the same thing as being inherently inferior.

This is in the US context, but can easily apply in SA, as well:
