We had a guy here by my work not showing up for work or showing up late for work an a regular basis. He was counselled, given written warnings eventually charged and dismissed. The employee went to the CCMA and still lost the case. He then went to the Labour court. The Labour court then instructed the company to re-employ the guy. The court said, "How can a company dismissed a employee for time keeping! he needs to feed his wife and kids" He came back to work and was paid a full years back pay.

A very odd case...and outcome. A lucky bastard if you ask me.

Being early at work only to stand outside smoking while watching all the latecomers is just as useless.

Fortunately some employers value actual work being done instead of people coming early and doing nothing.

I agree. When you get to work you start working instead of wasting time you get paid for. Some people still value punctuality as it sends a good impression.

We also had a guy who gave a sick note from a Sangoma in our office, cant remember the excuse on the note BUT it was discovered he was actually drunk which was the reason he could not come to work.
It's open up to abuse.

Those are falsified. While it may be the case there's at least some ethics and people who are trained.

I have no idea about number of western doctors vs sangomas but many people are aware sangoma's note isn't acceptable as valid sick note. Ethics? Not when it comes to money.

In 2022 universities will begin offering degrees to become a witchdoctor which will guarantee equal status to doctors in SA. Expect the National Health Insurance to cover the full costs of sangoma consultations and their dispensed potions. This isn't BS, its in the official policies.

Then everyone else would demand they get paid for absence due to their religious beliefs. I'm happy with being allowed at my own cost. I think it's fair to the employer as well.
