Article: Wanted criminal shot dead

My points are all valid and you can google the definition of a gang and soldier and apply it where you see fit and police fit the definitions perfectly.

Face it, the police are a gang of soldiers who are ready to die.

This is not true. There are fundamental differences. A military soldier is (generally) used outside the country. His brief is to kill the enemy – which he does well. He does not have the training to make fine distinctions. You can’t kill your own citizens. The police are (supposed) to have this training and exercise judgment.

For e.g.
You can’t gun-down a citizen for overdue library books. A military soldier might, the police shouldn’t.

Both your posts are valid.
The only exception to the above is where the state has declared martial law (afaik).

Its the use of words like gas, and using $'s as a basis for his calcuations..

A south African wouldn't really do either naturally

You may have something. I did a double-take at the term ‘slums’. That is not a word usually used in SA.

Slums, gas, dollars.. everything points to this person being an American.... I'm surprised it even has a clue there is a world outside its little state.

Looks about right...

It has the emotional outbursts of a 23 yr old.. and the location would be closer to the mark in my opinion.

Even the Brits refer the the poorer areas here as townships and squatter camps, although in UK even the wealthiest neighbourhoods in London or Buckinghamshire are known as townships. At least the English are informed enough to know what the word "township" means in South Africa. This guy has to be American.

The more I read Vio's posts, the more I miss DJslay and rza. :/

Hey folks... attack the ball, not the man.

Some of what he wrote is correct but he expands too much and then messes up his argument.

- Is crime a problem in SA? Yes
- Are SAPS doing a great job overall? No
- Are SAPS visible enough? No
- Are there very poor (slum type) areas all over SA? Yes
- Is Gangsterism a problem in SA? Yes
- Are SA youngsters in very poor (slum) areas invariably drawn into Gangs? Yes
- Is Gangsterism "acceptable" in very poor (slum) areas, in general? - Yes
- Is the SA Government doing enough to alleviate the plight of the very poor (slum) areas? No

lol my sister was a reservist (sp?)....I mean im like 1.73 tall and my sister is shorter than me and she did all sorts of stuff. Even chased a wanted rapist:)

The annoying (and sad) thing is that aside from colour, a white South African understands the psyche, wants and needs of black South African’s better than any Afro-American ever can. Yet they insist on this black ‘brotha, sista’ BS.

Completely agreed, but I would classify trying to get an accurate location and culture for VioAdmin not necessarily attacking the man, rather trying to get a context for his viewpoint, which is incredibly skewed to the negative in terms of police in general it seems
