Yes we want the same things, service delivery(police, justice, water, sanitation, health services, welfare for those who need it) lots of economic growth so we all have jobs, good education etc.

As humans we all have almost the same needs no matter where we live, some are just able to provide some of those needs for themselves due to hard work and opportunities .

Sure. We are all capable of empathy. Well, unless we are psychopaths of course.

Having said that a black person from the township with no education is not fit to hold political office IMO. I'm arguing against appointing ignorant people to positions of authority.

Seems valid when a proportionally large part of the Western Cape population is non-Black. I'd like to see the stats first.

And coloured and Indians? You forget, unless you're black African you have no place in the ANC.

Except some of us want running water and some of us want decent broadband! I'm just wondering (to myself) if I, as a white, middle class male, could really understand and represent the day to day needs of someone living in a shack...
 
Actually now that I think of it, the DA is hell bent on getting rid of inept and corrupt government employees. As the ANC only hires black Africans it stands to reason the DA is "purging" the province of black employees - it's just not for racist reasons...

One trench dug to provide both, it will work out cheaper and provide more services at once. :p

According to wiki (census 2011):

Population groups:
• Coloured - 48.8%
• Black African - 32.8%
• White - 15.7%
• Indian or Asian - 1.0%

According to census 2001:

• Coloured - 53.9%
• Black African - 26.7%
• White - 18.4%
• Indian or Asian - 1.0%

There were those arguments that the ANC was busing in voters from the eastern cape.

If you do the job properly, then you will find out what the most pressing needs are, and do something about it. You don't have to live with among people to know what they need. It just takes someone that is willing to find out, and do something about it.

I made the same assumption :p

I have one question; I know a rather large Indian population. I am not being racist here in anyway, but do they up for the larger coloured group? I cannot see how they and the Asians can be only 1% ??? Our family is actually very close to our local Indian community.

Who do they think is going to be making the tea then ?
And the current tea girl, what's to be made of her ??
 
good helen zille and the DA. get rid of all the incompetent and corrupt, regardless race or color. the majority in the cape with a say is colored or white. the blacks live in the slums and dont deliver any share in the economy of the province. only time the anc worries about them is the two months before an election.

The tea lady is moving to the anc to become minister of education. We should expect the pass rate to double by 2020.
 
Western Cape - Almost 80 percent of senior staff in the Western Cape are categorised as black, premier Helen Zille said on Wednesday, rebutting ANC claims of a racial "purge" in the province.

She said blacks, coloureds and Indians made up 39,276 of the 50,521 staff members who were in top or senior management, were professionally qualified or skilled technicians

Ah yes, the usual MyBB assumption of if you're black you must be corrupt.

The stats wont lie, and judging by the MEC posts, I expect whites and coloreds to be well represented and very little else at senior and management level...
